What's next?
Approached by someone
I kept walking after leaving the gym, taking a longer route back toward the main part of campus.
As I passed the student center, I noticed a small table set up along the walkway. A couple of students were standing beside it with flyers spread across the table.
One of them smiled when she saw me approaching.
“Hey! You got a minute?”
I slowed down.
“Sure.”
“We’re with the campus church club,” she said, handing me a flyer. “We’re having a student gathering tonight. Food, music, just a chance to meet people.”
I glanced down at the flyer.
“Is it open to everyone?”
“Yep. You don’t have to be a member or anything.”
Another student standing beside her nodded.
“We’re mostly just trying to get new students involved.”
I looked back toward the campus.
I’d been trying to do exactly that—actually get out and experience things instead of spending every night in my dorm.
“What time?”
She pointed toward the bottom of the flyer.
“Seven. Student center, room 204.”
I folded the flyer and slipped it into my pocket.
“Thanks. I might check it out.”
“Hope to see you there.”
I gave them a quick wave and continued walking.
I wasn’t sure whether I’d actually go.
But that was becoming a familiar feeling tonight.
I didn’t have to decide immediately.
For once, I could just see where the evening took me.
