A Debt of Gratitude
Chapter 1
Two beautiful Black women try to get my attention as I arrive at my mansion in a limousine.
Though security guards try to keep them back, I hear them calling my name—strangers to me, yet somehow they know it.
Curious, I roll down the limousine window and ask what they want.
The older one, nearing forty, slips past the guard to approach the vehicle.
"Please, Mr. Eros Apostasia!" she calls out. "I know you don't know us, but we have nowhere else to turn!"
I gesture to the guards. "Let them through. Girls, welcome. How can I help you today?"
As the security guards step aside, the two women move toward the car with a mixture of desperation and awe. Up close, their beauty is striking. Naomi stands tall and statuesque, her skin like polished obsidian under the moonlight. Her body curves generously—massive breasts and wide hips accentuated even by her worn clothing, her frame radiating both strength and vulnerability. Beside her, Keilah looks more delicate, her youthful face filled with anxiety, yet possessing the same lush curves and full lips as her companion.
Naomi leans slightly toward the window, her voice trembling but determined. Her dark eyes search mine for any sign of mercy.
"Thank you, sir... truly," she says. "My name is Naomi, and this is my friend Keilah. We... we are running for our lives. I made a terrible mistake—I took money from a man who isn't kind, just to escape an abusive marriage."
"And what would you like me to do about it?" I ask.
Naomi glances nervously at Keilah before continuing, her hands clasped tightly together.
"We heard whispers that you... that you might be able to help people in trouble," Naomi says. "That you have connections, resources beyond what most could imagine."
Keilah steps closer now, her shy demeanor giving way to desperate hope.
"Please, Mr. Apostasia," she says, her voice cracking with emotion. "We have nothing left. No money, no family nearby. This man, he's dangerous. He'll find us eventually if we stay in the city. We were hoping... we were hoping you might let us stay here, just for a little while. Until we can figure out our next move."
Naomi nods vigorously, her long raven hair swaying.
"Yes, anything," Naomi says. "We're willing to work, to pay you back somehow. Just please..."
"Consider him gone," I say. "I have places—places I can take him, where nobody will ever find him. Will that work?"
Naomi's eyes widen with shock and disbelief at my words. She searches my face intently, looking for any hint of deception. Finding none, a glimmer of genuine hope sparkles in those dark depths.
"Gone?" Naomi asks, her voice thick with emotion. "You mean... permanently? Oh God, are you saying what I think you're saying?"
She glances quickly at Keilah, seeing her own stunned amazement reflected back.
Keilah's hand flies to her mouth, stifling a gasp. Tears well up in her eyes, threatening to spill over.
"He... he could really make him disappear?" Keilah whispers. "Like he never existed?"
Naomi turns back to me, her statuesque form trembling slightly with pent-up tension and barely contained relief.
"Mr. Apostasia, if you're serious..." Naomi begins.
"Well, I need you to hear what my price is," I interrupt. "If you're willing to indulge me. It's a little... out there."
Naomi and Keilah exchange a nervous glance, their earlier elation tempered by wariness at the mention of a price. Naomi takes a deep breath, squaring her shoulders as if steeling herself for whatever I might propose. When she speaks, her voice is measured but tinged with trepidation.
"Of course, Mr. Apostasia," Naomi says. "We... we understand that nothing comes without a cost. Whatever you're asking, we're prepared to listen. Just please... be clear about what you expect in return for your help."
Keilah nods mutely beside her, her eyes wide and anxious as she awaits my response. Despite their apprehension, both women lean in slightly, hanging on my every word.
"I have unusual tastes," I say, my voice dropping. "I... when you have the ability to do the things I'm able to do—to control my environment so completely with the power I have—sometimes I like to... surrender. To give that power to people who can be discreet. Can you two be discreet? If the situation calls for it?"
