What's next?
Chapter XII
The next several days you end up spending in the cell. The guards clear your wastes and they give you food. But they don't touch you. Which is strange. Another odd thing is that nobody takes you out to perform despite the announcement.
For the most part you sit in the cell. Your arms painfully kept in one position.
Other times you struggle like hell.
But due to the fact that struggling against metal hurts, you are mostly idle.
"We have news for you, Kira Vance," you can hear a voice. It is robotic, emotionless, but you sure it belongs to the same woman who spoke to you the last time.
"We did our own private search, both with you and Randy Garcia."
"It turns out the both of you are capable smugglers. You certainly had your share of adventures. But this other guy has made quite a reputation himself."
"And if we have two useful fishes, why not put them to use?"
"Nod if you are in it. Your cell is under constant surveillance. The jobs that you are to undertake high risk, but they carry a high reward. Much higher than the stakes you are used to."
"Of course if you want to stay with us and perform, that is in your right to choose."
You nod.
Freedom vs. being an object. Who would choose the latter?
"Excellent. Your former owner made the same choice."
"Here I say former for a reason. We got your ship repaired, but that is the only ship we can dispose of. And considering that you are the more useful one of the two, we decided to reverse the situation, placing you in the lead."
You want to smile. But your ballgag prevents it. It looks like you are going to be a captain again. And you even got your own slave!
"Have fun over there!"
The woman says, and suddenly the cell's door opens.
