Chapter 2: Judgement Free Zone
Continued from chapter 1:
My face burns. She's been watching. She's been seeing me.
"I want to support you," she continues, her voice dropping even lower. "To help you embrace every part of yourself. And I thought having a trusted friend like Hugh here—someone who understands these matters—might make it easier to talk openly."
She glances at Hugh, who nods encouragement, his expression patient and assured.
"There's no pressure, my love," Gianna whispers. "We're just exploring possibilities together, as a couple. That's all."
I feel as though I've been submerged in ice water. She knows. She can't know, but she does.
"G-Gianna," I stutter, pulling slightly away from her hands. "What are you talking about? Certain outfits? And how can Hugh help with this? How can another guy help with our intimacy?"
Chapter 2:
Gianna's expression softens further, her voice gentle as she reads the panic flooding through me. But there's something else there too—something that suggests she's enjoying this, at least a little.
"Oh, sweetheart, I'm sorry if I've overwhelmed you. That wasn't my intention at all," she says, though the slight curve of her lips suggests otherwise.
She takes my hands in hers, squeezing them with reassuring pressure that somehow feels like restraint.
"I've seen glimpses. Little moments that made me wonder and care deeply. Like when you admired that silk robe I bought from the boutique recently. Or how you paused by the lingerie section, your eyes lingering on the delicate fabrics and intricate lace."
My stomach drops. She's been documenting me. Collecting evidence.
She takes a deep breath, and when she speaks again, her voice carries absolute certainty.
"I want you to know that I accept and love every facet of who you are, including these hidden desires. As for Hugh..."
She glances at him, then back to me, her gaze steady and commanding.
"Having a gay perspective might provide insight and understanding. He could offer guidance on embracing masculinity alongside your feminine interests, if that's something you'd like to explore."
Hugh watches me with those dark, knowing eyes, waiting. Patient. Predatory in his gentleness.
Comprehension dawns on me like a cold sunrise.
"Hugh... is gay?" I ask, the words tumbling out. "Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I'm... not gay. Right? We're not really going to explore my so-called feminine interests, are we?"
Hugh speaks first, his voice calm and measured, cutting through the tension.
"Eros, let me address your questions directly," he says. "Yes, I am gay, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm here as a friend and ally, nothing more."
He holds up his hands in a placating gesture, though his eyes remain sharp, observant.
"And you're absolutely right—being attracted to femininity doesn't necessarily mean you're gay. It's about expressing different sides of yourself."
Gianna nods in agreement, her thumb still gently stroking my cheek. The touch sends a small shiver down my spine.
"My love, I'm not suggesting we dive into anything major right away," she says, her voice soft but edged with something deeper—a confidence that makes my breath catch. "This is about opening a dialogue, creating a safe space for us to discuss and explore at your own pace."
Her eyes search mine, and I see something in them beyond the love I've always known—a quiet authority, a readiness that suggests she's thought about this far more than I have.
"If you're not comfortable with this, we can stop right now," she adds, though the way she says it makes it clear that she doesn't expect me to say no.
I swallow hard. "No... you... you just caught me by surprise, that's all. I'm... I'm listening."
Gianna smiles softly, relief evident in her expression, though her hand doesn't leave my cheek. She glances at Hugh, who gives an encouraging nod.
"Thank you for being open-minded, darling," she says. "I know this is a lot to take in."
She pauses, choosing her next words with deliberate care.
"Perhaps we could start small, just a casual conversation to begin with. Hugh, would you mind sharing your perspective on self-expression and fluidity in gender roles?"
Hugh straightens up, considering the question thoughtfully. When he speaks, his tone is measured but carries an underlying authority—the voice of someone who has explored these territories before.
"Well, from my experience, embracing different aspects of yourself—whether that's traditionally masculine or feminine traits—is a journey of self-discovery and empowerment," he says. "It's not about conforming to labels, but celebrating the full spectrum of human identity."
He looks at me directly, his gaze kind but unflinching.
"Have you ever felt drawn to express yourself in ways that might be considered unconventional for men?"
I hesitate. "Like... what?"
Gianna gently squeezes my hand, her voice soft and encouraging, though I notice the way her grip firms slightly—a subtle assertion of control.
"Remember, there's no right or wrong answer here, my love," she says. "This is a judgment-free zone."
