What's next?
Makima
"Amnesia, you say?"
"Yes, Makima-san.
The doctor said they couldn't find any physical injuries, but Denji doesn't seem to remember anything."

Makima stepped forward.
You instinctively stepped back until Aki(the topknot guy) gave you a condescending glance out of the corner of his eyes.
"Hmm..."
You swallowed as this woman, Makima, looked you over.
She looked like a regular woman for the most part, except for her golden eyes that had an odd pattern that looked almost hypnotic.
But there was a certain aura around her that made you more uncomfortable and on edge than anyone else.
After looking at you from top to bottom, Makima smiled.

"Denji, how are you feeling? Apart from the amnesia, that is."
"I... feel fine."
You replied.
Answering such a simple question felt like stepping on thin ice around Makima.
"That's a relief."
Makima smiled and then stepped back.
"Hayakawa, I think I'll have some talk with Denji alone for a minute. Would you mind?"
"Not at all."
Aki gave a small bow to Makima, shot you a stern look that said "Behave!" then left the office.
You didn't like that Aki was gone.
Over the brief interaction you've had through the hospital, he seemed to be the only one of the group that was normal.
But now, you were stuck with this red-haired woman who felt like a serial killer.
Makima gestured at you to sit on the chair.
You silently followed her orders, which seemed to interest Makima for some reason.
"Denji, do you remember where we first met?"
"Uh..."
Nothing came to your mind.
You pondered between lying and telling the truth before deciding on the latter.
"No, I don't... sorry."
"Oh, you don't need to apologize. I'm just trying to figure out if this is the work of a demon or not."
Demon.
You heard the same word getting thrown around in the hospital as well.
But unlike in your original world, it was clear that it meant something else.

"This might be a problem..."
Makima tapped her chin.
"Do you remember what demons are?"
You shook your head.
"B-but I did learn some things about them in the hospital."
You quickly added, afraid that you might've disappointed Makima too much.

"Oh?"
Makima's eyes widened in surprise.
"Can you tell me what you've learned, then?"
"Alright..."
You through back on what you have heard while waiting in the hospital.
From what you have gathered, demons were nothing like the Demon in your world.
There were multiple demons running around in the world.
Countless people were getting hospitalized by "Demon attacks", so humanity and demons definitely didn't get along.
And finally, from what Aki and Himeno said, you also gathered that it was their job(inculding you, technically) to fight off the demons before they do any harm.
You said all of that to Makima, who listened quietly to the very end.
When you were finished, she nodded with a smile.
"Very good, Denji. I'm glad that I don't have to fill you in every little detail.
I was worried that I might have to send you back to elementary school."
"Oh, I...uhm, thanks."
You felt heat rise up from your neck to your cheeks.
You had never had a woman smile at you like that before, much less someone so stunning like Makima.
Suddenly, the weird vibes you were getting from her felt trivial.
Besides, she was one of the good guys, right?
Makima seemed to be one of the higher-ups of the...whatever demon-fighting organization they were in.
If demons were harming humanity, then the organization fighting them must be on the good side, generally speaking.
"Denji."
Makima called.
You looked up at her.
"There is one more thing I'd like to check if you still remember...
Do you remember what I wanted you to do?"
"Uh..."
You wracked your brains, hopeing desperately for an answer to come to your mind.
Why couldn't this stupid body have retained any prior memories?!
You didn't want to disappoint the first woman ever that was kind enough to smile at your presence.
"...to kill demons?"
"No."
Makima stood up and walked around her desk.
She swiftly turned around the chair you were sitting on, then leaned forward until your noses were a few inches apart.
"I asked you to kill a demon.
A specific one, very powerful, very devastating one. Compared to it, the demon you fought today is nothing."
You swallowed.
Makima placed a finger on your shirt and slowly slid it down your chest.
"You see, Denji, I was hoping that you'd be the one that could kill that big, bad demon...
I saw the potential in you and I gave you an offer that motivated you focus on the job.
But now...now I can't find either of them."
"E, either of them...?"
You asked in a small voice.
"Yes. Neither the potential, nor the motivation..."
Makima's finger stopped on the trigger handle on your chest.
That was an another thing that puzzled you.
You recognized it when you were supposed to take off your shirt at the hospital, but Aki had stopped you from asking the doctor about it, nor gave any explanations for it.
Makima leaned her head on your shoulder.
You could smell a feint scent strawberries coming from her. Her breath slowly brushed against your neck, making you shiver on the spot.

"I really need you, Denji.
But now I don't know what I should do to get you back..."
Makima's fingers dug into your shirt and fiddled with the handle.
"Or perhaps..."
Her eyes scanned over you from top to bottom...until she spotted something.
"...oh?"
Her eyes widened even more than it had done before.
