Complications
After packing up camp and heading towards our last location we ran into a bit of a kerfuffle.
"Kay! Wounded! I'll run decoy."
"I know I'm on it"
It really showed how close we've gotten that she didn't give me any back sassy, she was dragging away the two downed teammates of this ill-fated party deciding fighting a dragon was something they could handle.
It may have been an adolescent only the size of a single horse carriage.
But this was still a dragon even The Adolescents don't get fought by anybody below veteran mid-tier.
I barely made it to the last standing member of their team in time, I summoned Tower shield and slammed it in front of us to block the attack hoping it's fire breath would be blocked.
It mostly was the burns I got were something you can get from your stove the support member stunned behind me was even less harmed.
Not waiting to give the dragon a second chance.
I let go of my shield turned grabbed the support and booked it out of there.
My sprinting speed, even with their extra burden, what's better than I remembered, it seemed this new body was better I wasn't going to admit that yet, but all the strengths of my old body but significantly lighter did give me an advantage.
Sadly instead of letting us escape the dragon decided to play Chase I remember reading somewhere that they were like cats in their instincts and frankly I did not want to be haunted like a mouse.
" keep your distance I'm going to try to keep it distracted when it breaks line of sight with you completely run if you can try to find my teammate she's a Healer and she's good with her weapons she'll keep you safe."
I need to wait for a response before I charge the dragon again.
I did hear it cute *eep* as I put her down and rushed away.
My mind ran through everything I knew, every tactic to fight a dragon like this with someone of my strength required a large team train to work together.
Tower Shields with Pikes, crossbows in the back.
The knowledge I had of a single person fighting a dragon and winning required someone stronger in full armor with high tier shield and sword.
My plan was to be a little bit of both and try to be fast enough to avoid the worst of it.
Dart in with the best sword for the moment, slash at a joint, Shield to absorb its hit, skid back or roll back from the force, strongest crossbow bolt to the face.
Repeat.
I managed to Blind it in one eye and cut it enough that it was limping, before something went wrong.
There was more than one adolescent dragon in the area.
The girl I had just rescued was staring down another one and her eyes spell did little in the face of a fire breath attack.
At least she had followed my advice and was running towards where I knew Kay would have taken the others.
I threw the weapon in my hand at the Dragon, the largest ax I had ever seen that was still designed for throwing.
Without even looking to see if it hit the mark I charge towards the second dragon, it was in that moment that my heart stopped.
Kay had snuck up on the Dragon and it just leaped at it from a top of Rock it was in slow motion that I saw the dragon turn to look at her and prepare a breath attack.
"Goddess no, please, she's all I have out here"
