A Night for only Them
The room Mavuika gave them was simple — wooden walls, a wide bed, and enough candles to keep the dark soft and golden.
They used none of the city’s open, celebratory style that night.
There was no rough claiming, no breeding, no race to see who broke first. Aether and Rosaria spent the evening and the long hours after in slow, deep, heartfelt lovemaking. Every movement stayed close. Every kiss lingered. When he was inside her it was with long, rolling thrusts that never turned frantic, his forehead pressed to hers, her legs wrapped tightly around him as if she could keep the rest of the world outside by force of will alone.
Rosaria checked on him more than once — quiet questions about the night with Mualani, whether he needed real sleep, whether his body still carried the drain. Aether refused every suggestion of stopping early. Pride as a man and the sight of his newly accepted fiancé looking at him with such open, honest need made the idea of rolling over and sleeping feel impossible. He stayed awake for her. He stayed inside her. He kept giving her exactly the affection she had spent months pretending she did not crave.
The moment the door latched and they were truly private, the strong, unromantic act she wore like armor began to fall away in pieces. The sharp tongue softened. The defensive smirks disappeared. She let herself cling. She let herself whisper things against his skin she would never say in front of the others. She let herself need him without irony or deflection, and Aether met every bit of it with the same steady, devoted attention he had once reserved only for the quietest hours with her.
Outside, pressed to a narrow gap between the wooden planks, Shenhe watched.
Her usual blank mask was gone. One hand was buried between her own thighs, moving with furious, silent urgency as she stared at the candlelit shapes of the two people on the bed. Soft, broken sounds threatened to escape her throat; she bit them back. The red restraints around her body had begun to smolder at the edges again, thin threads of frost and heat rising where the bindings fought the surge of emotion.
Cloud Retainer found her there and reached out, fully intending to drag her student back by the ear before the entire camp noticed.
Then she saw Shenhe’s face.
The expression stopped her cold.
It was not simple lust. The desire and longing written across her disciple’s features were aimed at something deeper than the physical act visible through the gap. Shenhe was staring at the way Aether held Rosaria, at the way Rosaria let herself be soft, at the quiet, complete exchange of affection and trust that had nothing to do with stamina or climaxes. That was what she wanted so badly her restraints were failing — the emotional place beside him that her own nature and the ropes still made nearly impossible to occupy.
Cloud Retainer’s hand lowered slowly.
She did not pull Shenhe away.
She simply stood in the shadows beside her student, silent, and let the smoldering ropes and the quiet, desperate movements continue while the two people inside the room loved each other without an audience they knew about.
Inside, Rosaria came undone around Aether with a soft, shaking cry that sounded nothing like her usual sharp moans, and held him afterward like she never intended to let go.The red stone at her throat caught the candlelight every time she moved.
