She stared at John. "John, what are you doing here?"

He grinned. "I think I asked that first. I'll answer anyway. I live here, and I'm paying my rent. Now, what about you?"

"Chris and I just moved into this apartment complex. John, this is my husband, Chris. Chris, this is John. We went to high school together."

Chris shook John's hand. "Nice to meet you," he said pleasantly.

John nodded, but was disappointed. He had a crush on Rebekah during their high school days, and now she was someone else's wife.

"Maybe we can catch up sometime," she said.
