What happened next?
Date with the Brunette Goddess
I knocked on the door to Amanda’s office loft. Dressed in a frat guy’s Sunday best, holding flowers like a doofus.
Amanda opened the door and blew me away. Black dress. Hair curved and waving down to her bare shoulders. Perfect makeup. Her brown eyes shining. Her full lips begging to be kissed. Her bare legs shaved and smooth. Heels. Painted toenails.
Cass warned me, but nothing could prepare me for her looking so good. I couldn’t even compliment her. My tongue was paralyzed. She smiled and completed melted me into helplessness.
“You look really nice.”
“You look a million times better. Seriously I'll just leave. It’s insulting for me to be in the same building as you. You’re too beautiful.”
“Oh hush,” she slapped my shoulder. “I know you like casual Amanda because she’s approachable but I like getting dressed up. Makes me feel hot.”
“You’re an active volcano. You are smoking.”
“Well thank you. Where are you taking me?”
“I have hired a chauffeur to take us to the best restaurant in the county for a private dining event.”
Maggie driving us in the camp van to the bar down the road to eat a meal that I had the blonde bartender set up by the lake.
Glasses of bourbon. We sipped and looked out over the water. The stars above us. Drunk counselors yelling on the other side of the parking lot.
“When was your last date?” I asked.
“Maybe a year ago, when he proposed. Some expensive place. He paid for it with my card.”
“Why did you say yes? I haven’t heard you said anything positive about your relationship.”
“It was my only relationship. It had lasted so long. I figured that was the thing to do. I wasn’t getting any younger.”
“I’m glad you found out he was cheating before the wedding.”
She raised her glass, “Me too. The wedding he was planning was crazy expensive too.”
I was reminded again of the different places in life we were. I was paying for this date in favors and promises to work for free. She had investment accounts accumulating thousands of dollars per day. She was rich. I had nothing. It didn’t matter to me. I didn’t care about her money.
“Did you ever have girlfriends?”
The topic volleyed to me.
“Uh not per se. I couldn’t officially have a girlfriend. There were girls I made out with if we could find a place to hide.”
She shook her head, “I can’t believe you went from that to what you’ve done at camp. How many girls have you been with now?”
Was this a test? Was she going to get angry again.
I reached my hand over and put it on top of hers. “I’m still waiting to be with a woman.”
Her laughter echoed across the lake. “So cheesy.”
She tilted her head, “Are you into me because of my looks? Another tally for you.”
“No,” I said seriously. That seemed absurd. She was the one person I actually connected with besides Cass. “I feel an actual emotional connection with you. I haven’t felt that with anyone else. Every other physical interaction has left me feeling hollow.”
“I guess that’s good at least. There’s still some moral code in you. Sex isn’t the same as making love. That’s why I said you need to choose wisely.”
She pulled her hair behind her ear, exposing her neck. I wanted to pepper it with kisses. She finished her glass. “I’m going to freshen up and get another.”
She walked confidently in heels across the gravel parking lot. After another bourbon I’m not sure she’d be able to accomplish that task.
She came back to the table with two drinks in hand. She took off her heels and set them on the table. “Let’s take a walk.”
I finished my drink and took her second glass. I took off the dress shoes and socks. We started through the damp grass and walked the shore.
“I used to spend two months every summer up here. It was the best place to be. No worries. Just non-stop fun. Everything organized. An agenda of activities.”
“Sounds like everyday of my life minus the fun, everything planned out for me.”
She took my hand, “I know what you got away from. But you don’t have to do the exact opposite. Chaos isn’t freedom.”
She sipped her drink, “Routine can be freeing. You don’t have to think. You know what to expect. You don’t have to worry about what happens next.”
I think I understood her dilemma. “Dating an 18 year old isn’t routine.”
She smiled at me, “No it is not. Caring about a young reckless man has stressed me out so much. The fact that I like you and have had dirty thoughts about you has driven me insane.”
“You have dirty thoughts about me?”
She took a sip from her glass, “This bourbon is letting things slip. It’s turning me into Amandy.”
“I like Amandy. Was she the one teasing me about her underwear?”
She laughed, “One too many Grey Goose that first day of camp. Yes, it was fun seeing you blush.” She nudged me, “Come on ask. You know you want to know which ones I’m wearing tonight.”
I smirked, “I don’t have to ask. I’ll find out later tonight.”
She howled, “Oh my god you’re so cocky! I guess that’s what having a big dick and fucking thirty college girls in a month will do to a guy.”
I grabbed her arm and spun her to me. I looked at her, “Say that again. I want to see that pretty mouth talk about my big dick.”
She stared me down. Bit her lip, “That shouldn’t turn me on as much as it does.”
“What turns you on?”
I held her close to me. Not letting her slip away.
“You taking control.”
This woman who liked to organize and control everything was turned on by a man taking charge in the bedroom. She didn’t have to make decisions. She took commands willingly and with enthusiasm. You just had to tell her what to do.
My hand moved down her back. Pulled her body closer. So many dirty thoughts racing through my head. So many things I wanted to ask her to do.
But there’s only one thing I truly wanted to do to her.
I kissed her. My lips finally met hers. She kissed back. Not opening her mouth for tongue, but giving me full on kisses. A legitimate long first kiss.
She broke it first and dance away, sipping her drink. Leaving me stunned. I had finally kissed her. I was filled with warmth and satisfaction. I couldn’t take the dumb grin off my face.
She giggled, “Let’s get back home. This date isn’t over yet.”
