Who acquired the ring?

Sherrie

Chapter 3 by IronLacedCarbon IronLacedCarbon

The young man scrambled to put his clothes back on, and he rushed out of the bathroom as fast as he was able. He had trouble with his erection, which might likely be permanent unless he got the ring back. Thankfully, he was able to tuck it along his waistband to hide it to some degree, but he could tell that one wrong move would cause the thick mass to flop out if he wasn’t careful.

Since his room was the closest, he did his best to put on a mask of calmness as he stepped to the door and poked his head in.

Max had a side-view of Kevin sitting at the computer, so he was able to see his younger brother’s hands and they danced across the keyboard. No ring, he thought. Kevin didn’t pay Max any mind as he quickly left the room and quickly hurried to the living room.

Growing more panicked by the second, Max walked right up to Jill with wide eyes and startled her.

“Uh, hello?” She asked, her own eyes widening as he approached. “Can I help you?”

No ring on the hand holding the phone up to her head, nor on the one she was holding up towards him.

“No, sorry.” Max said before turning away, barely registering that sister called him a weirdo. When he reached the kitchen, his face was bright red and he was breathing heavily.

Andy was still looking down at his crossword puzzle with a thoughtful expression on his handsome face, and Max could see that he wasn't wearing ring aside from the gold wedding band on his left hand.

Sherrie was still cooking, going back and forth between the stove and the counter as she tended to pans and prepped other ingredients.

Max swallowed hard, and then stepped into the kitchen.

Andy glanced up from his newspaper and made eye contact with his son as he quietly moved towards Sherrie. Thinking quickly, Max brought a raised a finger to his lips as to aid in his stealth, and his dad shook his head and smirked as his gaze returned to the paper. Max took a deep breath and tried to act casual, then did something that he normally would've done.

"Boo!"

"Ah!" Sherrie chirped, dropping a plate into the sink. She spun around with wide eyes and a sneer, eyeing down her shithead son as his gaze darted around her hands.

There it was, he thought.

The silvery ring on the hand opposite her wedding ring.

On some level, he was relieved, enough so to smile and raise his hands in defense.

"Sorry, couldn't resist." Max said, forcing a chuckle. "Hey, can I talk to you about something for a second?"

There must've been something in Max's sweating expression that told her something was wrong, because her pretty face quickly returned a look of concern.

"Uh, sure honey." She said, glancing at Andy, who was looking back at them confused. Sherry just shrugged, then followed Max as he turned and walked out of the kitchen and towards the garage.

Max turned around and took a deep breath as she closed the door behind them as they stood around in what was essentially the home's second living room. The garage door broke a few years back, and instead of fixing it, Max's parents just decided to seal it off and buy all new furniture for the main living room and shove all of the old stuff in there. It wasn't uncommon for either Max or Jill to have a few friends over, and it made sense for them to have a space of their own to hang out in rather than be scattered around the living room if not their own cramped spaces.

"What's up?" Sherrie asked him, her tone more flat than concerned, as if Max had done something wrong. "I know what that look on your face means."

Shit.

At first, he wasn't too worried that his mom had found the ring. She was probably the kindest one in the family, which is something you'd want with absolute power over reality. Unfortunately, Max just remembered what he'd been thinking before he wished that the rings were swapped around...

His mom might be a total pervert now, and who knows what kind of chastity-inducing fetishes she might-

"Well?" She asked, crossing her arms over her sizable bust and interrupting his racing thoughts. "What's so..."

Sherrie trailed off as her eyes wandered down to his midsection and the prominent but poorly-defined bulge of a tube-like object masked by both his shirt and the waistline of his shorts, and her head cocked to the side as any worry in her face was replaced with confusion.

"Okay, so..." Max began, then cleared his throat and swallowed. "This probably won't make any sense at first, but please try not to freak out.."

Sherrie looked at her son with confusion written all over her face, and Max took a deep breath before he explained the situation.

“I don’t know how, but that ring just appeared on my hand when I was driving home. I didn’t realize what it could do until, like, a few minutes ago when I was in the bathroom. Whatever you imagine comes true, so you need to be careful. I started messing around with it, then I started to wonder what would happen if someone else found it, and then poof, the ring disappeared!”

As Sherrie listened to Max’s crazed ramblings, her eyes seemed to grow wider and wider.

Once Max was done, Sherrie stood there for a moment in silence, clearly thinking something over as her eyes were locked onto the silver ring on her finger.

Max held his breath in suspense, able to hear the thundering of his own heart in his ears while he waited for any kind of response.
