What's next?
Shit got wild real quick.
It turns out that your wife had been cheating on you with Jeremy for months, not long after they first met at your neighborhood barbecue. The irony is not lost on you, and karma, it seems, works quickly. The divorce is settled swiftly. Your wife is apologetic, but seems surprised at how forgiving you are. Little did she know that you were cheating on her first. And you suppose you were both unhappy with your marriage, in a way. Maybe everything that happened was for the best, all this drama being the perfect circuit breaker for a fresh start for you both. You part ways amicably in the end.
Jeremy ended up getting a few months in jail for what he did to you. You started it, of course, stupidly, but he took it too far. He was still laying into you when police burst into the bedroom. Gemma broke up with him, naturally. You're not sure whether it's because he was cheating on her, or for what he did to you, but you think it best not to ask. You apologize to her for the confrontation between the two of you, realizing that you had no right to do or say anything that you did, and that she was completely in the right.
The awkwardness of the entire situation means that you and Gemma never resume your relationship. With nothing left for you, you resign from your job and move across the country, starting your life anew. You end up finding a much better job than your last, and take the time to look after yourself. You enjoy the following quiet three years in your new life, with nothing ever reaching the excitement of the few months that Gemma was in your life. You're not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
