What's next?
Testing the Waters... Carefully.
'Alright.' You said to yourself, looking at the blinking cursor and mulling over your next move. 'I wanna see if this is legit, but I'd also like to avoid doing anything that could backfire if it ends up working.' There were a lot of subtle ways you could do that, though. Being able to "alter the fabric of reality itself" doesn't mean it has to be grandiose, right?
'Changing my height would be altering reality, right?' You mused. You'd had a bit of a crazy growth spurt during puberty, and all the teasing meant you'd never quite gotten over being "freakishly tall", even at a modest 5'6. So, change in mind, you type out your first and likely last entry, when it inevitably fails.
{ I am 4'10" }
Hitting Enter, the entry appeared in the text box above the entry field, timestamped with the exact hour, minute, and second you did it. Then, you felt warm. It was only for a second, a shimmer across your entire body that came with a flash of vertigo. Then, you realized that your monitor wasn't aligned right, which was weird because you'd gone out of your way to adjust it for your... height...
"No fucking way." You mumbled, pushing your chair back and standing up. Your jeans bunched up around your ankles a little, and - standing next to your desk - it was impossible to ignore how much taller it seemed now.
'Goddamn, so it actually works!?' It made you giddy, but it made you panic too. This kind of power is insane! How could you be trusted with it, and seemingly at random, by this mysterious company!? Did they actually hope to roll this out to a larger audience?
Ping! Before you could spiral, a small Tip box appeared beside the height-altering entry, and despite your panic you climbed back into your chair and tugged your monitor down a little to read it.
Tip: Changing reality doesn't mean retroactively changing history or perception, at least by default! Entries can include conditions on how others should perceive you!
"...Huh." Well, the program having tips was nice... but, did that also mean that if you walked out of your room right now, everyone would notice you got shorter? 'Guess that explains why my monitor didn't readjust, too...'
Truthfully, while you didn't expect it to work, you couldn't pretend you hated your shorter height. It'd be nice to be seen as cute and small instead of tall and gangly for once. So, acting on a bit of intuition, you right clicked the existing entry and, aha! You clicked the Edit option that appeared among several other in the dialogue box.
{ I am 4'10", and have been since puberty. }
There was another shimmer, and you watched your monitor adjust. Your chair suddenly pumped a little higher beyond your control, and looking down let you catch the last second of your jeans warping to fit you perfectly again. You were sure there were more subtle things that changed around your room, but that really wasn't your priority right now.
'It worked... it worked! Which means...' Well, it means you could do anything.
