Gotta Hand It To Ya Doc…
I was practically in a full sprint as I ran up the stairs to the lab. The entire bus ride here my mind was racing with what could have happened. The last time someone was alone in the lab Gwen got possessed by that… thing. My heart was racing as I pushed open the door, hearing it slam against the wall as I unknowingly use a bit of spider-strength to see…
Everyone. Looking totally normal.
“Hey! Guys. What’s going on?” I say awkwardly as I step further into the lab, my eyes glancing from Dr. Conners, to her wife, to Gwen, all of who were staring at me as if they were waiting for me to say something. I felt like the stupidest person in the room… and the way Gwen was staring at me with a smug smirk didn’t help.

“It’s okay Ms. Parker, no need to rush like that.” Kendra said as she walked up to me. “We just had some excited news we wanted to share with my two favorite assistants.” As Kendra says this she grabs one of my hands with both of hers, and gives it a small squeeze and…
“Wait… Dr Conners! Your… Your hand!” I say excitedly as I look down and see the woman, now with an arm fully grown, giving me a quick smile as she gives me one extra squeeze with her right hand before pulling back again.

“Took you long enough, Parker.” Gwen says with a small teasing smile. I flick my tongue out at her and she just sticks her middle finger up at me, before Martha claps her hands and brings our attention back to the two of them.
“Oh will you two stop bickering for five minutes? We’re trying to celebrate!” Martha says with a smile, and as she says so her daughter, Bernadette, pushes a cart with a cake out from the back room. “Now I don’t have to be the one cutting cakes from here on out.” Martha says, nudging her wife playfully as she hands her a cake cutter.
“Oh don’t worry darling, I’ll be doing a lot more now, just to have some fun with these babies!” Kendra chuckles as she holds up her hands proudly, wiggling her fingers and giggling like a toddler seeing hands for the first time.
“Dr. Conners, this is incredible! How did you do it?” I say, grabbing a piece of cake that Bernadette had handed to me. Though, my voice shifted slightly as a thought popped in my head. If that black ooze made Gwen grow a dick…
“Was it that alien ooze?” Gwen quickly chimed in, once again finishing my sentence just like she used to. I could hear the concern in her voice, emulating my own, but the chuckle from Kendra that followed put us both slightly more at ease.
“No, you two. This was all due to my own experimentation with Lizard DNA.” Kendra says as she pulls out a bright green vial from her lab coat and hands it to Gwen, a proud and almost smug smile on her face as she does so.
“As much as I hate the idea of my love using herself as a test subject…” Martha says, before letting out a small ooh~! from under her breath, as suspiciously Kendra’s new hand slipped out from behind Martha’s backside. “I don’t think any of us can argue with the results.” Martha teases with a smirk.
“The symbiote…” Kendra starts, speaking slowly now as if she were trying to figure out how to speak. “After I found my stride in my own research I contacted my connections in the Pentagon and had them remove the alien from our campus immediately.”
“WHAT?” Me and Gwen said almost simultaneously, our jaws on the floor as we looked back at each other, then turned back to Kendra. I opened my mouth to speak, but Gwen was quick on the draw.
“Think about everything we could have learned from it!” She says quickly. “It’s an alien! It’s seen the cosmos, other universes, other life!” She was starting to itch at her own arm, as if a withdrawal symptom was starting to creep through. “It could be useful for so much more than that! I-“
Connors raises her hand, and very quickly Gwen turned silent, a blush on her cheeks now as she took a step back. Almost like a soldier falling in line her back straightened, her eyes focus, and her smile turned more cold.
“After a recent incident that took place in our lab I decided it would be better for everyone involved that the symbiote be removed.” Kendra said, her words were flat, cold, and without a doubt final. Both me and Gwen nodded and went quiet, blushes growing on both of our cheeks.
“Unfortunately the cameras in here had a glitch so we could not report the exact dangers the symbiote gives.” Martha says, as Connors stares daggers at the two of us from behind her, before giving a small wink while her wife continues, placing her hands on her shoulders that makes Martha smile again. “We did believe it was in our best interest to send it away. When we returned to the lab it had destroyed this place one night!”
I didn’t think we were THAT bad… I thought to myself as my cheeks only turned brighter.
“No worries, however.” Kendra says as she grabs a glass of champagne off the cart from behind the cake. “The good thing about science? It keeps moving, and growing, and we keep learning. I’m sure if we are meant to see that symbiote again we will.” She chuckles as she raises a glass. At first me and Gwen get excited… before Kendra hands the other glass to her wife.
“Sorry, this is for the grown ups.” Kendra laughs, as if we weren’t already of-age. “To science!” She says as she raises her glass with her new hand, and even me and Gwen participate in the toast with our invisible drinks in our hands.
“For science!”
