“It’s called the F-virus,” Annette explains, watching Riley, Adella, and Hana flip through a file folder with the light of a pen that doubles as a flashlight.

Glossy photos show before and after: nude women looking ordinary, and then with penises.

“It lets you just grow one?” Hana says, sounding shaken. “One that works, like we have?”

Annette rubs at her face. “You can see that for yourself.”

“Was this what you wanted? What’s Umbrella trying to do here?” Riley can’t help but ask. She keeps thinking about the emblem on the flash drive.

“Umbrella?” Annette looks lost. “I’m not Umbrella.”

Adella’s expression has become dangerous. “You’re the one who brought us all here. What were you going to do to us?”

“Nothing! Look, obviously, this wasn’t supposed to happen. The plan was for FUTA to show the world how great it is. Then, when the F-virus is ready, I bring a product to market that’s going to enrich the lives of women everywhere and totally change the game for gender affirmation. I don’t know what went wrong here today. There was a security alert. I came back to check on everyone, and it was already out of control. I barely got in here without getting infected.” She sounds defeated.

“What? This is like your side project?” Riley asks, closing the file and tossing it away.

The blonde bristles. “FUTA is the side project. This has always been my passion. Why shouldn’t women get to have one too?”

“Screw that. How do we get out? There’s four of us. How many are there of them?”

“I have six lab techs,” Annette says, drawing up her knees and hugging them.

Adella looks pleased. “Six? We can get through six.”

“If their ejaculate even touches you, you’ll be infected. And it acts quickly,” Annette tells her.

“I have one already.”

“It won’t matter. You’ll still be acting like them,” she says with a glance at the dark window. “Even the odor of it contains pheromones that can affect behavior.”

“Can we help them somehow?” Hana asks.

“I can make a serum that should reverse the effects, but what I need is in the other lab. Then we’d still have to find a way to dose them safely.”

Riley frowns. “They do not seem healthy. Are they going to be OK?”

Annette shakes her head. “No. The virus isn’t ready yet. This is not a commercial product. The penises are good, but their metabolisms are in overdrive. They can’t think, they’re overheating, and their bodies can’t take it for long.”

“They’ll die if we don’t help them?” Riley asks.

“Or we die if no one helps us?” Hana squeaks.

“Dude, chill.” Riley puts her hand on Hana’s head and presses to make her settle down. She locks eyes with Annette. “We have to help them. How do we get this cure?”

“The door is right down there, but if we open this one, they’ll be all over us,” Annette warns.

“It doesn’t matter. We’re getting a cure anyway. We have to do something.”
