The first nominations of the summer are made

As the sun sets on Day 3 in the house, it's time for Julian to make his nominations.

JULIAN (Diary Room) - "It's really tough being the first HOH because I've only just met these people and now I need to put two of their games in jeopardy. The nominations I make will set the tone for the rest of the season, so I need to think them out carefully. There's a part of me that wants to make a splash and put a big threat up on the block immediately, but I know that's not the smartest way of doing this. Whoever I put up will have a chance to stay in the game and come after me in the future, so I don't want to make an enemy out of a strong player unless I'm certain they'll get evicted."

Julian considers his options for a long time, but eventually the time comes. Julian is called to the diary room where he's presented with a set of keys for every houseguest in the game and a box with two keyholes. Julian makes his decision and brings the box out of the diary room to announce that it's time for the nomination ceremony. The rest of the houseguests file into the dining room and all sit around the table as Julian begins the ceremony.

JULIAN - "This is the nomination ceremony. It is my responsibility as the Head of Household to nominate two houseguests for eviction. In my nomination block are the keys of the houseguests that I'm nominating for eviction. I will turn two keys to lock in my nominations and their faces will appear on the Memory Wall. The first houseguest I have nominated is..."

Julian turns the first key and Victoria's face appears behind him. The camera gets a good shot of her shocked expression.

JULIAN - "The second houseguest I have nominated is..."

Julian turns the second key and Eugene's face appears next to Victoria's. Eugene nods his head without much reaction.

JULIAN - "I have nominated you, Victoria, and you, Eugene, for eviction. At this point in the game, I have very little to base these nominations on. The two of you both lost your first competitions, so I wanted to give you the opportunity to prove to the house that you're here to compete and that you have what it takes to win. I wish you both the best of luck in winning that Power of Veto. This nomination ceremony is adjourned."

Julian takes the nomination block back to the diary room as the other houseguests stand up and comfort Victoria and Eugene. Eugene remains stoic while Victoria has tears in her eyes from the shock she's feeling.

EUGENE (Diary Room) - "So I'm on the block in week 1. Obviously, this is bad. I do not want to be the first person evicted. However, I'm not going to panic. There's still plenty of time for me to form bonds, make some allies, and possibly win that Veto to save myself. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and hope for the best."

VICTORIA (Diary Room) - "I'm so upset with Julian. His "reasoning" for nominating me makes no sense. Just because I knocked over a stupid block tower, that makes me your target? Julian had better hope I go home this week because, if I survive, there will be hell to pay."

JULIAN (Diary Room) - "I nominated Eugene and Victoria because I wanted to get as little blood on my hands as possible. Them losing the Night 1 competition made them easy scapegoats and it means they're both unlikely to win the Power of Veto competition tomorrow. However, I'm still keeping my eyes and ears open this week for other targets. If I end up needing to name a replacement nominee, I'm willing to make a big move and take out a strong competitor."
