Get a job!

Sai stares at Erik open mouthed, colour drained from his face, Erik grimaces at his friends reaction.

“It’s not THAT big of a deal!” Erik murmurs, trying to convince himself and Sai at the same time.

“I swear you and Ari are the same, you two don’t give anything the proper weight it deserves,” Sai rubs his bald head absentmindedly as he slowly blinks, still in shock, “she’s not just well off, shes rich.”

“I wouldn’t say that in front of her,” Erik grumbles in response, putting the controller down on the couch, the pause screen taunting him, “it’s her dads money, not hers, and she doesn’t want it.”

“What a problem to have.” Sai says.

To which, Erik glares, “YOU ARE RICH TOO!”

Sai shakes his head, “Yeah but not… generataionl wealth rich, dude, come on,” Sai has always been weird about his families wealth, “I’m upper middle class if anything, she’s upper class.”

Erik concedes, “Has Vi or Ari shown you her house?”

Sai shakes his head.

“You wouldn’t guess it based off the property,” Erik explains, “he allegedly, has money but refuses to actually spend it.” Erik shrugs.

Sai waves his hands, “Okay, irrelevant, who cares, you need to get a job man!”

Erik looks offended, “I’m in uni? I’ll get a job after?”

Sai wages a disapproving finger, turning to face his best mate a little bit more, “Nah man, you need to get a job now, you need to show her and him that you’ve got the gumption and work ethic to provide for is daughter.”

“Maaan, miss me with that manosphere shit,” Erik groans, “Vi would hate me if I tried to take on that role, she’s had an overbearing father her whole life, she would despise me if I decided to just be a nicer version of that.”

Sai’s brow furrows, “Fine, say that’s true.”

“It is.” Erik interrupts flatly.

“Still! Get a job man! You don’t have to like, provide and protect, but you gotta contribute!”

He holds up two fingers, “She’s got two jobs eh?”

Erik nods in confirmation, already seeing where Sai is going with this.

“Exactly!” He throws his hands up, “You need to show some sort of ambition, and besides, if not for her, for yourself man.” His face creases in genuine concern.

“The fuck does that mean?”

Sai crosses his arms, “What do you do if Vi and I are busy?”

Erik blinks, “I chill at home.”

Sai gestures at him.

“What?”

“Bro! That’s all you do! Do you even go gym if I don’t ask you to come with me?”

“Sometimes…”

“Dude you need structure! Get a job! Money! You’re running out of savings soon right?”

Erik pouts.

“Don’t YOU want to do stuff? You gotta break it up a bit, get yourself some spending money.”

Erik groans and throws his arms on the couch back behind him, “I guess, you have a point,” he grimaces, “I haven’t been able to afford gifts recently.”

“Good stuff bro, I can try and help you find a job if you need.”

Erik groans again, “Nah. All good,” he looks at Erik sheepishly, “I think I have a hook up…”

Sai glares at Erik as the call ends.

“I hate you.” Sai says, grabbing his controller off the table.

Erik mimics him, grabbing his own controller, “I had a feeling Maki would hook me up…”
