What's next?
He decides to just walk away (Luck +10)
He stands in the hallway for a moment.
He could go back in. He could confront her. He could make this into something that defines the rest of the night in ways he cannot fully predict.
He looks at the bedroom door.
Then he pockets his phone, turns around, and walks back down the hallway.
No confrontation. No scene. No wasted energy on something that, when he thinks about it clearly, does not actually surprise him. Janice has always known exactly what she was doing. Tonight is no different.
He takes the stairs back down slowly, the party noise rising around him with each step.
By the time he hits the bottom he has already moved on.
Some things are not worth the cost of your own evening. Knowing when to walk away is its own kind of winning.
He grabs a fresh drink from the kitchen counter and looks around the party with fresh eyes.
The night is still very much alive.
