Chapter 21

What does Frank find?
Booze
Frank gets his kit out and goes to work. After a few minutes of testing, he chuckles, “It's not too bad… an aphrodisiac, pheromones, some sugar, some flavoring… and oh yeah, it's about a hundred fifty proof,” the elf shakes his head. “You don't have to worry about passing disease with those juices, but when you get wet, everyone around you is going to get horny too.”
…and of course, I'm on a hair trigger. “So I'm a fetish bar, all by myself?”
“Well…” Frank considers, “...you can expect more attention to your needs at mealtime.”
“It's hardly been an issue,” I roll my eyes, “I get off easily just on nipple play, I'm feeding three grown men directly from those taps, and you all take turns railing me after while I suck off whoever isn't using one of my other holes.” Also, you know, whenever you're up for it… because… well… wow it feels good. This body is seriously wired for pleasure. I consider a moment, “We should probably let Gregory and Bob know they'll get tipsy, or maybe even drunk, if they eat me out.”
“Eh, we need to let ‘em know it's time to land anyway,” the elf shrugs, and opens his comm, “Hey Gregory, Bob: Time to land and pick up some samples. Also found out something new and wonderful about our nicest member: Meet on the bridge in five.”
I summon my Astral Suit as we walk over to the bridge, Bob already there, and Gregory getting in a minute behind us.
Bob hands the helm over to our normal pilot as I begin, “So… apparently my vaginal fluid is an alcoholic aphrodisiac.”
“Seriously?” The stocky human raises an eyebrow, “Put up or shut up.” I roll my eyes as I dismiss my Astral Suit, and yes, he comes and licks, making me shudder… and stops at the one. Ugh, annoying.
“Okay, yeah,” he nods, his face starting to flush, “that's pretty good stuff…” he sighs, “...for later. For now, we have work to do, so getting drunk is a bad idea.”
“So where are we landing first?” Bob licks his eyes.
“Got my eye on a little rocky outcropping by a desert,” Frank shrugs as he starts the landing procedure, “no particular reasoning behind it.”
“Good enough,” Bob nods as we all do our part.
The ship enters the planetary atmosphere with a small rumble… and we keep our speed down below the point where compressive heating causes issues for the shields… which is still fast enough that it only takes us two hours to get down from orbit, and that includes the flight time to our chosen location. We land, leave the ship's cloak running (the reactor has enough power for that when we're not keeping the weapons hot), and disembark.
The ship tells us it's a scorching 43C out, so I cast Life Bubble on the four of us before we open the door. It's a fun first level spell in Starfinder: It works on one person per caster level, lasts a day per caster level, and deals with a decent set of environmental problems: Scorching heat, biting cold, poisonous air, no air, high pressure water, and a few others. It doesn't cover radiation or gravity, and there's limits to how much heat or cold it can mitigate, but for this it's fine.
The desert has a kind of beauty. The bright red sun paints the orange sky in some nice colors over the white sand, and the wind swept dunes make it look something like a frozen ocean… but we're not here for sightseeing. We subdivide one of the sample containers, dig up a few things Frank identifies as plants, and pot them. We leave the wildlife alone… at least until a giant snake-like thing jumps out of the dust at Frank, biting through his armor and crashing him to the ground, the creature's muscled coils wrapping him up tightly as the beast's teeth draw blood.
I react quickly, letting off two Junk Shards spells (both via Inspired Spell), and burning more Mythic power for an extra standard action to fire two shots with my semi-auto (combined with my move). Both jagged pieces of burned-out electronics and the two shots strike true as I spend the effort to **** critical hits on everything… but the beast survives my first volley. Gregory and Bob start laying in as well, both with their guns and the spells I provided (yes, via Inspired Spell too, they have limited ammunition in that regard)… and yes, we take it down on the second volley… but not before it finishes off Frank.
“Ooh, bad luck,” **** whispers in my ear as the fight ends.
“I have him flagged, he's mine,” I frown in the stillness.
“I'm actually here for the snake,” a cold chuckle rings in my ears, “yes, he's yours. The necklace works, he's going to be alive again in a day.”
“Animals have souls?” News to me.
“Who are you talking to?” Bob tilts his head and licks his eyes.
“My sponsor,” I shrug, “Please pipe down so I can listen to him. I can fill you in later.”
Bob and Gregory frown at that, but they both step back.
“It's nothing close to the soul of a person… but yes, animals like that snake have enough of the Breath of Life that they need to be managed.” I get the impression of a shrug, “So I can see this area for a little while. But that's not what you want to ask.”
I suppose not, “Is the rest of this planet this dangerous?”
“Yes,” I get the impression of a nod, “Lots of ambush predators… no native people, though. A colony here will need to bulldoze a sizable area and construct thick, tall walls around it, but it's a valid colony site.”
“Thank you,” I notice Bob and Gregory are edging closer, listening in to my half of the conversation. Hmm. “So good for me, then, and with the resurrection I can grant, okay for them?”
“Oh, they're going to level up too…” he pauses, “...at least, whoever survives the next couple fights will. The beasts here are pretty nasty. Nothing flying, though.”
I consider that, “So I can hunt with impunity?”
I can almost hear the grin, “Pretty much, yes.”
I smile myself…
How does the hunt go?
