A new friend?
Karim, a fellow student
Karim was one of the few faces at school Amira didn't feel dread seeing everyday.
They weren't that close per say and didn't even share classes. But he was one of the few people of Muslim origins in her school.
Not that she really felt a special closeness to people from her background, many have very different worldviews from hers, on either side of the spectrum. None really showed her any sympathy for what happened to her, and some of the boys treated her just like the rest.
Karim on the other hand seemed different, at least from the outside. He wasn't the ultra-conservative type, not the non religious type who tries to push away their origins by acting like a cartoonish caricature of a frat boy.
He was a pretty average guy, seemed to be liked by everyone while not really belonging to any group. He worked out on his own time but wasn't part of any team at school, nor was he in any club.
He wasn't visibly religious asides from dressing a bit more modestly than others; always wearing pants and shirts that weren't skin tight.
Before the day of her wardrobe malfunctions, Amira only talked to him once in a very while. It all changed last week though after an incident that actually convinced her to go see Kayla in the first place.
