Chapter 5

Do the clones follow this odd feeling?
I mean, they can't help it if the Commander just isn't that good at Pazaak, right?
The next match is just about a blur to the clones as, unbeknownst to them, they've started playing mainly not against each other, but with the goal of making Ahsoka lose. It's not anything obvious, especially to the naive and comparatively innocent souls that currently occupy the room, but an outside observer might make note of how the young Togruta is a lot more likely to find herself ending a round in a draw or being instigated into larger bets than the clones would make otherwise.
She ends up losing the first Bracer to Vaughn in Match 5, and Kix takes the other at the end of Match 6.
"Hrrrg, I'd swear these cards are rigged!" Hardcase laughs a bit before responding, "Yeah, from what I hear, that's what a lot of Pazaak players used to say. The deck screwing you over at the worst possible time is a long and hallowed tradition of the grand old game."
Ahsoka considered things as she watched Kix collect his winnings, including one of her bracers and what WAS the remainder of her credits. I'"m out of credits again. I really don't wanna stop playing though, as poodoo as some of those draws were, I'm really having fun playing this with the guys.
Her fingers beat a rhythm on her thigh for a moment. My boots. It'll be a bit more troublesome to replace them if I lose them, but I have other pairs, and I can probably get a decent return for these.
"So, guys, I'm out of credits again, what would you all value my boots at?"
That weird feeling returns to them, only stronger now, as they hear her offer. Rex is the one who ends up responding. "I'm not sure we can take those, Commander. Your bracers are one thing, they're not really combat gear, but attempting to enter a battlefield barefoot would be highly unwise."
Ahsoka waves off his concern. "It's not like this is my only pair, and I wanna keep playing with you guys. Despite the **** deserting me every other hand, it's a neat mental and tactical exercise that I wouldn't get elsewhere."
Rex considers what she said for a moment, before he responds. "Very well, let us say 6 Credits a boot then. Hand me a boot and I'll go ahead and trade you the credits."
He's not sure why he watched so carefully as the Commander removed both her boots, but soon enough they're off and she's tossed one over to him with the ****, prompting him to slide the credits over the table to her.
"Right, hope you're all ready to lose!"
Now that she's got some liquid credits, what happens next?
