Chapter 10 by MJ_Productions MJ_Productions

Soon, you wake up again

In the hospital

Sometime later, your consciousness slowly drifts back to the surface. You open your eyes, squinting against the harsh fluorescent lights of the hospital room. Disoriented and confused, you try to make sense of your surroundings, your memory hazy from the trauma you’ve endured.

"Uhh… where am I?" you think to yourself. "A hospital?" You slowly become aware of your surroundings - the sterile smell of the room and the steady beeping of machines nearby.

“Oh… you’re awake,” a gentle voice says from your left. You turn your head, slow and careful, and find yourself staring into a pair of striking brown eyes. The woman standing in the doorway doesn’t look like the first thing you’d expect to see when waking from a near-**** experience. She’s tall - around 5'9" - with an hourglass figure, in her early thirties, with sharp features softened by warmth in her expression. Her dark brown hair is tied back in a tight bun, with a few strands escaping to frame her face, revealing small gold stud earrings and high cheekbones. Her white coat fits neatly over a dark blue blouse and leather trousers, paired with black high heels.

“Yeah, but I feel like I’ve been run over by a car,” you manage to say.

“Well, you actually were, in a way. My name is Dr. Emily Carter, and I’ll be treating you.”

“What happened, Dr. Carter? I don’t remember a thing.”

“You walked into ongoing traffic and got hit by a truck. Luckily, the driver managed to reduce the impact speed as much as possible. A few more seconds and…”

“Wow… I guess I got lucky…”

“Indeed, lucky,” she says, checking the monitors next to you. “A sprained forearm, mild concussion, and some deep bruising - but no internal bleeding. Honestly, you walked away with less than most do in these kinds of accidents. Especially considering your arm was run over.” Her voice has a crispness that suggests discipline, but there’s a soft edge beneath it too - like she’s mastered the balance between professionalism and humanity. “You were **** for a few hours. Paramedics brought you in around midnight. How do you feel right now?”

“I’ve definitely been better,” you answer slowly, looking at your bandaged arm.

“We tested you for **** and ****, and you were clean. We drew blood and performed several other tests with no unusual results. You’re absolutely healthy. So maybe you want to tell me something?” Dr. Carter asks.

Your mind struggles to piece together the events that led you to this hospital bed. The last thing you remember is your headache and your walk home from work. As the fog of confusion begins to lift, fragments of memory come rushing back. The sound of a horn, blinding headlights, and then… darkness. You blink slowly. “I… I’ve probably overworked myself and therefore been a little tired, I guess. Maybe that’s why I was so careless.”

She makes a note on your chart. “I see,” she says, then looks back at you. “You’re going to be okay. We’ll keep you here for a few days, monitor your vitals, and get you on some pain meds. Now I need to check your legs.”

“Just don’t tell me he drove over my legs too,” you say, your voice hoarse.

“No, he didn’t. But I still need to check them,” Dr. Carter states matter-of-factly.

You give a weak nod, your eyes studying her as she examines your legs with practiced ease, bending them while leaning slightly over the hospital bed herself. There’s a quiet intensity about her - like she’s always ten steps ahead of whatever crisis might come through the door next. “Thanks,” you say. “For taking care of me.”

Dr. Carter pauses, meeting your gaze. “It’s my job. But you’re welcome.” She continues her checkup.

You, on the other hand, can’t concentrate as well, your eyes wandering over the doctor’s body. "She’s so hot," is all you can think. Hot with a capital H.

Dr. Emily Carter carries herself with effortless confidence. Tall and athletic, she moves with the posture of someone who understands the human body inside and out - every stride purposeful, every gesture precise. Her brown hair is pulled back into a bun that somehow looks both professional and casually elegant. Her features are striking - sharp brown eyes focused yet expressive, high cheekbones, and a strong jaw softened by a genuine smile when she offers reassurance. She wears a moderate amount of makeup, though she doesn’t need it - there’s an effortless beauty in the way she carries herself. Beneath the white lab coat, her fashionable clothes hint at a well-toned figure, giving her a crisp, composed look that is professional but undeniably striking. There’s something quietly magnetic about her - an elegance in the way she moves, a confidence in the way she speaks. It’s not just her appearance, though that alone turns heads. It’s her presence: beauty wrapped in purpose, grace under pressure.

Your friend down under reacts
