Checking in

Jane eyed the outer decor with no little trepidation.

They kept it the same as the last one... can't decide whether that's good or bad.

As intentional as the creepy vibe undoubtedly was, it didn't stop her from walking in, and coming up to the front desk.

The lady behind it greeted her with a professional smile. "Welcome to the Spooky Island Hotel! Can I have your name, please?"

"Uh, it's Jane."

"Jane, let's see..." A quick glance down at the screen in front of her and a nod. "Ah, here you are! Full package, fully paid, excellent. Now, I must ask: Are you aware of what exactly we provide here?"

Jane took a deep breath. "I heard... rumors."

The concierge's smile turned sly. "The possession rumors, I assume. Yes, they're true. We offer an utterly unique experience, for those so inclined."

Jane gulped. "Pull me out... and something else takes over."

"Correct!" The lady leaned in, grinning now. "If I'm honest, it's my favourite way to spend my time off. Letting one of these monsters take my body for a ride, while I take a flight around the island."

Jane took a shuddering breath. "I..."

The receptionist straightened up, fully professional again. "Now, I will say that, unlike in the past, this is purely voluntary. You can spend the entirety of your stay here in your own body, and no one will judge you."

Jane gave it some serious thought. "I... no, I want this. I..." Another deep breath. "I want to be possessed."

The receptionist smiled again. "Very good. Alright, let's go over your options...
