An unconventional opportunity

"Dear Miss Robinson," came one of the replies to Monica's applications, "your story is inspiring and courageous, and makes you a unique fit for our program.

You see, the news has a dearth of stories that involve uncomfortable elements, such as nudist resorts, maternity wards, and fat camps. You already have experience with fighting adversity, so you would be a perfect fit for our role of Special Correspondent. In that position, you would contribute to journalism by showcasing an oft-ignored part of the news, and of the human experience.

We are therefore advancing your application to Special Correspondent to the interview stage, and closing the application for other positions. Should you choose to accept the interview, it will be at our office the Monday after next. To test your mental fortitude, you will be subject to some discomfort during the interview.

You have until next Friday to accept this interview, but please let us know at your earliest convenience. Should you be chosen, you can start as early as three weeks from now.

Monica was flummoxed at reading this. She had applied to be a photographer and source verifier for Nathan Johnson, not some "special correspondent"! And what did they say about the interview?! Still, she wasn't sure she had any other option at this point. Little did she know that Nathan was a friend of Dean Blackburn's, and had no plans to have Monica conduct the interview clothed.
