CHAPTER|two

Gather

With the majority of your uncle’s people here, you bring the spotlight onto Xavier, asking him to go into as much detail as he can remember about what happened. Just from within our own ranks were were able to reach a confident conclusion that the ones who took Mila were those of the Red Door gang. They are a gang that is local to Bimeldontedeer, so they’re hidout are going not going to be too far away. And if they went out the main entrance of town, then there are two known hideouts, though not the exact location, but it is known that they have a hideout directly north somewhere in the forest, or to the east somewhere in the rolling hills.

You mutter a few divine words under your breath, and an invisible path of energy bursts out and jumps to Mila, linking your minds when you cast sending.

“Mila, you ok? We’re looking for you. Were you able to see anything, landmarks, terrain?” You ask.

“Ai’cila? I’m alright, weak; their collar drains away my magic. Vision blurry, but I saw a swirl of green and blue and yellow.” Mila’s voice fades as the smell reaches its limit

“I know of a large cave somewhat close to the road in the forest to the north. It used to be a goblin cave led by a mean old bugbear before it was cleared out. Think 1/2 the cavern caved in. Wasn’t safe to use, even though the kid stopped playing there.” Pete, the evening barkeep, spoke up.

Everyone start talking about where they have been in that forest, either as kids or for a secret tryst, and it would seem that the cave is the most likely, if not only logical, place for the Red Door gang’s hideout to be. When you hear that the old trails to the cave have all seemingly been grown over or destroyed in one way or another all but confirms that it was.

“There’s a wet trail that’ll lead you to it, just hard to traverse it,” Pete speaks up again.

“Ya, if you can find the river or creek to begin with, it pops up, then back down underground without rhyme or reason. But yes, a river does run out of the mouth of the cave.” Xavier chimes in.

You exit the inn and step towards the forest. You draw quite a lot of looks fully geared up in your armor with weapon and shield at your side. Each step you take vibrates with intent, focus, and purpose. The 2 city guards you march past follow you up to the edge of town. You can’t rest, not now, as looking for the cave by moonlight would be much more difficult. But you know that you still have a couple of tricks up your sleeve.
