A heartwarming tale

Abigail starts the overview.

“I saw the weirdest thing yesterday, and I don’t know what to make of it.” She pauses for effect, before continuing. “Thursday afternoon I’m on library duty, watching the girls who have a free period. You know what I saw? Ellie Jones and Kelly Golden sitting together. Not just sitting together, Ellie helping Kelly with her coursework.”

“Now I thought, there’s something suspicious here. Kelly doesn’t do her coursework. I thought this must be some strange form of bullying from Kelly, so I ask Ellie if she’s ok, and she says yes, she’s helping Kelly with her coursework and everything’s fine. I don’t believe it, but I can’t break them up, so I leave them to it, just keep an eye on them, wait for Kelly to do, whatever humiliation she’s going to do. Nothing. They’re just two girls doing their coursework.”

“See, I told you Kelly Golden could be taught. And you said she couldn’t,” Mrs Oversight states with confidence.

“Oh, it gets stranger. About halfway through the period who comes into the library?” She then mentions two more students, the two students you’re pretty certain are Ellie’s main bullies. “They see Ellie there, and they go straight for her. I’m just about to act, when Kelly stands up and tells them, in no uncertain terms, that they are to leave Ellie alone, and if they do anything untoward to Ellie, they’ll have to answer to her. I was dumbfounded. As were they.”

“I told them to stop disturbing people and to sit down, and they just did it. The whole library was in shock. Kelly Golden standing up for Ellie Jones. If this is some prank by Kelly to get expelled, I don’t understand it.”

“I like to think that Kelly Golden has realised she’s here for another year, and she might as well make the best of it,” is Mrs Oversight’s answer.

After the meeting you tell Abigail you’ll meet her in the cafeteria and pull out your phone. You send a quick message to Ellie and Kelly.

Heard what happened in the library yesterday. Looks like Saturday Sleepover is on.
