Asher needs help at work

“Is it Asher again?” I ask curiously.

“O-oh, yeah…” Emma stammers, a light blush on her face. “…there’s a situation at work.”

“What kind of situation?” I curiously ask.

“It’s uh…a bee situation…” Emma timidly replies, quickly texting Asher back.

A bee situation?!

A righteous fury erupts through my bones. I knew that there was a bee at her work in the past. But for them to be tormenting her work while terrorizing her here?

It’s a sting! How dare they!

“It’s a really, really big…situation.” Emma’s blush deepens.

“Will he be alright?” I worriedly ask. “Does he need help?”

“Y-yeah, I think he will.” Emma nods nervously. “I…think I should go and help out.”

“You are good with vanquishing bugs.” I nod.

“Y-yes, I’m very good at it…” Emma’s eyes dart to the side, the side of her lips twitching upwards.

Aw man. This date night just didn’t work out at all! But it would be selfish of me to try and dissuade Emma from helping Asher with the situation at work.

He’s lucky my girlfriend is so kind!

“Then I guess we should get going.” I sigh. “He needs help as soon as possible!”

“Actually, you should stay here and finish your dinner. I wouldn’t want it to go to waste.” Emma quickly says. “Asher is going to pick me up and…take me.”

It must be a really bad situation if he’s temporarily retreating to grab reinforcements!

“Are you sure you don’t need help from me? I don’t mind!” I exclaim.

“It’s fine!” Emma grins. “I know how you hate bugs, so…”

Ugh, I hate them so damn much!

Emma’s phone dings again.

“Ah…he’s here.” She blinks. “I-I’m going to go help Asher with his…hard problem, okay? I’ll see you back at home…”

“Okay, babe.” I smile sadly and wave as she gets up and walks away.

Man, this date night just sucked. I really need to do better for Emma. She deserves so much better!

I’ll have to think of something grander…and absolutely devoid of bugs!

Well, time to finish this dinner alone.
