A dangerous ritual

"I know of a spell. It is old magic, but still practiced with regularity in some circles. It would allow you to venture inside your own psyche and literally confront your inner daemons. The nature of what you might see there is known to be chaotic, so it's impossible to say what sort of confrontation this would involve, but if my suspicion about the daemon that bred you is correct, it's quite likely that you will find him awaiting you. I don't want it to go unsaid that failure would be... catastrophic. If you are not victorious, you would become forever bound to whatever powers are fighting against you from within."

Indra wore a grim expression as she explained what she had in mind... but this makes a certain kind of sense to you. Even if the magical process isn't something you're accustomed to, meeting your opponent in battle face-to-face is what you've been trained for. "But if I win, then I'm freed from this... curse?" You gesture toward your belly. You're sure it's just your imagination, but you can almost feel the vile growth writhing with sadistic glee inside you.

The witch pauses, and then offers a hesitant reply. "Not entirely. The daemon's seed has still taken root in your womb. As I said before, the only way I know to relieve that particular burden is to bear it to fruition, but your sisters at Gerlangen may know another method. What you would be achieving is freedom from the darkness that has intertwined with your desires. It is not immunity to further corruption. Nor would the bond be broken between you and the spawn you have sired. But you will have won the time you need to reach your destination without losing your will to infernal lust."

"A great risk, when the prize simply offers me a chance to not fail before my mission even begins." Indra's silence reflects your appraisal of the situation. You can tell she will say no more about the ritual until you have consented to it. If it's really that dangerous, why would she have suggested this first unless she thought you were capable of the task? "Is there anything else we should try?"
