Head to the Mall

The automatic doors whirred aside and Liz and Morgan stepped into the mall, greeted right away by the smell of cleaning product, sound of breezy easy listening music and click of sneakers against the mauve marbled flooring.

“Ahh… the mall! Don’t you just feel at home here?” Liz wafted that wonderful smell of lacquer and conditioned air into her face while Morgan snickered.

“If it was 1986 maybe… all the malls back in my town are as good as dead. At least this one’s got a bit of life in it.”

“And it’s about to have even more now we showed up!” Liz turned to flash Morgan with that bright little grin she was coming to know all too well.

“Just try not to get us thrown out, okay?” Morgan rolled her eyes.

“You know I can’t make those kinds of promises!”

As the girls approached the escalator to ascend to the floor which housed the food court and more interesting stores, Liz looked left to right, finally casting a not-so-subtle glance to Morgan and then climbing an extra couple steps to position herself perfectly.

As soon as Liz stepped off at the top the tremendous fart came to a halt. “Tadah!”

Morgan fanned a hand in front of her face. “Well that’s one way to put me off my lunch!”

“Bahaha! Relax, you’ll get your appetite back just as soon as you catch a whiff of that wonderful greasy mall food court cuisine!”

“Yeah, if that didn’t just destroy my sense of smell entirely!”

“Well…” Liz halted, almost causing Morgan to bump into her. “Let’s see, can you smell this?”

She lifted herself on her toes and barked off a short, percussive blast in Morgan’s direction, who wafted it away with a bout of laughter.

“Oh, God!”

“See! Sense of smell is just fine! Now… do you wanna go grab some food or hit somewhere else up first? The mall’s our oyster!”

Morgan swept a glance around to get a lay of the land. Food did sound pretty good right now, but it wasn’t the only thing on offer…
