Chapter 29

Things get heated
After about a minute or so, the crew got back into place behind the studio equipment. Meanwhile I’m still up on stage with a racing heart and a tingling sensation between my legs.
“Alright, let’s continue with Sophie’s thoughts on the story in 5… 4… 3… 2…” Jack says before counting down for the crew.
“Shitshitshit… What was the story about again?”
“Action!”
The studio got quiet all of a sudden, with nothing but the sound of the cameras rolling. I physically shake before blurting out something.
“Let’s hope everything you said was true!” I say with a strained and awkward smile.
I try to keep my eyes focused on the camera in front of me but I can tell Ashely, Jack, and the rest of the crew were glaring at me with confusion. I’m not too sure why I said that, as it more or less just popped into my embarrassment riddled mind.
“I mean, he owned the exact make and model that rammed into the parade float. Do you think he might not be the suspect the police are after?” Ashley asks with a raised eyebrow.
Great, now I’m stuck in a sticky situation, and I’m not talking about the area between my legs. I can either walk back on what I said and halt the shoot again, or I can die on this unintentional mill I just made myself.
“W-Well, the only evidence we have is his vehicle, but we can’t be 100% sure it was him driving, no?” I ask.
Ashley looks stunned, her expression going from a raised eyebrow of confusion to a baffled open mouth and wide eyes. I was fully expecting Jack to call for a cut here, but the cameras are somehow still rolling.
“What do you mean by that? It was his truck! You really think someone else would steal another man’s car and potentially kill parade organizers?” Ashely asks, sounding shocked and a bit offended.
“We can’t rule out the possibility, though. Have the police run a fingerprint check on the steering wheel? Maybe he has a provable alibi? We need more evidence before we start to judge!” I reply, the conversation getting me heated at this point. I didn’t take journalism for four years to hear gossip coming from a news station.
“N-No… He was taken to the station just this morning… but are you seriously playing devils advocate for a potential murderer?”
“I… don’t know, but I have this feeling…” I reply, feeling a lot more things than just a gut reaction. Something about this conversation not only is getting me fired up, but I feel strangely aroused.
“You know what, maybe we can just move onto the next story, shall we? I fear if we continue the entire show will just be me and you clashing chests,” Ashely says with an awkward laugh.
Ashely then proceeds with the script on the teleprompter, making no effort to even continue the conversation. I feel awkward, especially when I begin to speak my lines with everyone watching me, possibly praying that I don’t go on a contrarian rant again.
…
…
…
“And for the last bit of news, Mayor of Michigan Micheal Hallsberry seems poised to run again for the mayoral spot, as he was seen campaigning this morning.” Ashely reads.
“T-The current Mayor is running on keeping the state tax low and addressing the problem of homelessness in our major cities, stating that “I have many, many glorious plans to help reduce the people living on the streets.” But only time will tell if he keeps this promise.” I read. My gut feeling begins to act up again, especially with how he said reduced.
“And that’ll be all folks on today’s episode of In the Know! It got a bit heated between us, but I’m sure us getting hot and bothered was entertaining for you. See you all on the evening showcase for more!” Ashely exclaims.
“A-And thanks for watching the Naked News Network…” I say, physically cringing as I’m reading it. They just had to make me say it…
“AND… CUT!” Jack yells after a couple seconds of silence.
Immediately and without warning, the lights in front of me turn off, only for the front overhead lights to turn on, blinding me for the second time this shoot. I rub my eyes before slowly opening them, revealing the fully lit up studio room and all of the crew, including Jack’s full moon.
I hesitate to look over at Ashely, thinking she probably hates me for basically derailing the beginning of the show.
But to my shock, Ashely was already looking at me before placing her hand on my shoulder and saying, “Holy Shit, Sophie! I didn’t know you had that kind of spunk!”
“Wha…” I say in confusion.
“I mean, you got really into that parade crash story. You were arguing for that guy like his damn lawyer!” Ashely exclaims.
Is that a… bad thing?” I ask coyly, being unsure on how to respond.
“No! Not at all! I mean, you brought up stuff that I didn’t even think about. How’d you figure out your hypothesis like that so quickly?” Ashely asks.
“Well, to be honest with you I’m not too sure myself… I kinda just came to me naturally, a-a gut feeling if you will.”
As I’m trying to explain, quite poorly that is, to Ashely, Jack walks up to the both of us with a pleased smirk on his face.
“That was great guys! I wasn’t expecting you two to get into a debate on this segment. But next time Sophie, please read up on the subject before getting behind the camera!” Jack says.
“Oh, yeah I’ll try…”
“At first I was a little worried this shoot would take forever, but once you started arguing everything just clicked! You even stopped covering your chest half way through. The fans are going to love this!” Jack says.
“Oh shoot!” I say before looking down at my exposed tits. I must’ve gotten way too into the news. I immediately hug my arms around my chest before anyone else could get a look at them.
“Stop trying to hide the girls, Bestie! Hundreds of people are going to see them anyways, so why bother?” Ashely says.
“That doesn’t help at all!” I reply with a face full of blush.
