Chapter 2 by SG SG

Which tool?

Drops.

DRP, also known as Drops[1], Truth Serum[1], and Yes[2] is an atypical anticonvulsant barbiturate. Its mechanism of action is not fully understood, but its effects are unique among psychoactive substances. Its mind-altering properties have wide-ranging applications, particularly in intelligence[1] and law enforcement[1]. It is also used recreationally despite having low **** potential[citation needed].

Effects

Single dose

A single dose consists of 1mg (colloquially referred to as "a drop"[citation needed]) of the substance administered orally. The primary effect of DRP is a complete memory blackout beginning the moment the **** enters the body and lasting twenty four hours[1]. The subject will have absolutely no memories or sense that time has passed. Subjects have described it as "the world [skipping] a day"[5].

In addition to memory loss, DRP renders the subject completely unwilling to lie or withhold information when asked[4]. Unlike traditional "truth serums", the mechanism of action is not lowering inhibitions or clouding judgment, but altering motivation[4]. When a subject is under the influence of DRP, they simply lack the desire to lie, regardless of the importance of whatever deceit they may have otherwise chosen to commit[2].

In addition, DRP instills an overwhelming docility and suggestibility in the subject[1]. Subjects have described this effect as "profound contentment" and a feeling that "everything's ok with the world" [5] and "everyone just seems so reasonable" [5]. This effect in particular has led to a widespread underground market for the ****[citation needed].

Other side effects that are commonly reported[1][2][5]:

  • Euphoria
  • Mental Fog
  • Listlessness
  • Giddiness
  • Loss of inhibition
  • Sense of wellbeing
  • Affection for anyone nearby, regardless of prior relationship

Multiple Doses

When multiple doses are administered, the effects are magnified exponentially. As further DRP is introduced into the subject's bloodstream, the following effects have been observed[4][5]:

  • Profound listlessness
  • Inappropriate laughter
  • Confusion
  • Reduced cognitive function

More doses do not affect the lifespan of the ****; it will consistently wear off twenty-four hours after the last dose was administered.[1]

Usage

Because of its powerful effects, DRP has become popular for a number of very specific applications[citation needed].

Trust Drops

A trust drop is an exercise (often performed in romantic relationships) in which the subject will demonstrate their trust in a partner or group of partners by taking DRP and spending the duration of its effects together[6]. Typically, with a romantic partnership, each partner will schedule a trust drop for the other to spend with them[6]. Due to DRP's deceit-suppressing effects, trust drops are often used to disprove allegations of infidelity[6] or criminal behavior[6].

Drop Parties

A drop party is an event or gathering in which attendees all agree to take DRP[4]. The subjects will then restrict themselves to a building or property for the duration of the effects. Often, the final hours or minutes of the effects are spent recording "confessionals" for the subject to listen to after the blackout ends. These remain a controversial practice and have been illegalized in some jurisdictions[6].

Intelligence Uses

Since its discovery in the late 1970s, organizations and individuals have employed DRP as a means of intelligence gathering[1]. It has also been used to hide information; a common use is amnestic-based tokenization, also known as drop secrets[6]. When a subject under the influence of a single dose of DRP is ordered to remember a phrase or number (for example, a cryptographic key), they demonstrate a remarkable ability to recall it until the moment that the effects fade and they lose all memory of the events. Thus, secret messages can be delivered via a subject under the influence of DRP with certainty that the message will be permanently lost after twenty-four hours.

Who gets the drops?
