“Black pawn E2 to E1, promotion to Queen.”
The pawn’s worst fears were about to be made manifest.
If he didn’t move, they’d forfit, he wouldn’t get paid and would never be invited back.
If he moved…well… he’d be made a queen.
“Look… I’m… can we just surrender now?” He asked.
“Only the controller can and they… I think they set all this up.”
“What?”
“Black pawn has 30 seconds to comply or a major penalty will be imposed.” The automated voice said.
He winced as he stepped forward and a group of stage hands rushed him.
