The Fair

There's one nice thing about boring paint by the numbers lovers. They always finish quickly. Take tonight for instance. We finished early enough, I fed and now I have the rest of the night too myself.

I love flying around the city at night in the form of an Owl. I can see a lot better than I could as a bat. Bat form is good for going from A to B but is terrible for taking in the sights.

There seems to be some kind of street fair going on down below. I think I'll find a .nice quiet place to land and take in the sights. Ah here we go an alley behind a liquor store close by. I land and poof I rematerialize into a human.

The first thing that hits me is the smell of the food. Fried pastries, popcorn, corndogs and various other items and thankfully none of them have garlic as an ingredient. one of the things I miss the most about being a human is the food. As a vampire I can eat human food for appearances but it all tastes the same, like ash. In other words I can eat it I just can't enjoy it.

There are the games of skill and chance with the usual prizes. I see a teenage boi cheering on his girlfriend as she tries her hand at a ring toss game. Ah she just won and the carney running the game hands her a large brown teddy bear. In turn the teenage girl hands it to her boifriend who then squeals in delight.

There's a young family. The mother is holding her husband's hand while also carrying their toddler son. The boi has his head resting on his mother's shoulder looking like he's about to fall asleep any second.

There's Sid, yes my familiar. She's standing by herself in line at the ferris wheel. She looks so alone among the other couples in line.

She needs a date for the evening and that's where I come in.
