What's next?

Back at the Batcave...

"How's he doing?" Kitty asked Barbara.

"He'll be fine," Barbara replied. "Bruce might be the toughest human being on the planet. And while he might not have a healing factor, he's got the most advanced medical technology in the world -- he'll be up and walking tomorrow."

"That still seems too soon," Kitty noted.

Barbara shrugged. "That's Batman for you. Stubbornness is a superpower in its own right."

"I know that as well as anyone," Kitty agreed with a knowing grin. "I don't think Logan knows how to quit. Still, walking around with a wound like that? That's another level of crazy."

"You've walked off some pretty nasty scrapes yourself, kid," Logan grunted, overhearing their conversation as he entered the Batcave, a six-pack of beer in hand. "Don't pretend you're any different."

Kitty grinned as she rolled her eyes. "So I'm a perpetually grouchy old man, now?" she teased.

"Maybe not," Logan shot back. "But you're well on your way."

"If it helps, you're a really, really pretty grouchy old man, Kitty," Barbara chuckled, which made Kitty laugh and Logan crack a smile.

"Ha! Coming from you, Babs, I'll take that as a compliment," Kitty smirked.

Logan turned to Barbara. "Ya did some pretty damn good work out there yourself. You n' Kitty make a good team... a real good team. You got some serious chemistry..."

Kitty and Barbara blushed. It sounded like Logan knew about the two of them. "So, uh, you figured us out, then?" Kitty asked.

"You two didn't exactly make it difficult," Bruce said as he hobbled into the Batcave, using a cane to steady himself. "You don't need to be a detective to understand the looks you two have been giving each other."

"Damn. He's already on his feet. Are you sure he's not a mutant? Or an android?" Kitty whispered to Barbara.

"Regarding the android theory, I'have my suspicions," Barbara whispered back before the couple turned their attention back to their mentors.

"You seemed a little too enthusiastic when Barbara offered you a place to stay," Logan continued. "Couldn't have been more obvious you two liked each other."

"OK, so you guys know. Cool," Kitty sighed. "So, uh, what do you think?"

"Long as you're happy, my opinion don't matter. But if you really want my opinion, I think you found a good one, kid," Logan approved.

Bruce was quick to agree. "You don't need my approval in your personal life, Barbara. But Kitty, you've definitely earned my respect."

Logan tossed a beer to Bruce and opened a can of his own. "I guess we're done here. How 'bout a drink before I head back to Westchester?"

Bruce nodded in approval as a rare, small smile crossed his face. "Sure. Here's to you getting the hell out of my town."

"I'll drink to that," Logan agreed. "I don't plan on stayin' a second longer n' I have to."
