Relationship Talk

True to her word, Gillian arrived back at her room about an hour later. When she opened her door, she found herself surprised by the sight of Kyall, who wore only a towel. He took delight in her surprise, smiling from ear to ear as she took in his chiseled physic.

“Kyall... I didn’t expect to see you like that.” Gillian stammered.

“Yeah, I just took a shower. I can get dressed if you want.”

“N-no no. It’s okay.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah. Not like my boyfriend is here.”

Gillian took a seat next to Kyall, who felt like he’d just caught The Great White Whale. For now he remained still, but his hands twitched at the thought of how much further the night could go.

“You sure you’re okay with sleeping on the couch?”

“Yeah I think I can manage. Why do you ask?”

“Well um... no offence, but you are older than me.”

“I stay in shape.”

“I can see.”

“I think I’ll manage.”

“Well, if you insist.”

Kyall nodded.

“Could I ask you something?”

“Sure.”

“Y’know how I mentioned how Hayden didn’t come to the wedding with me?”

“Yeah?”

“Do you think that’s suspicious?”

“Suspicious how?”

“I dunno. It’s probably kinda silly, but do you think it’s a sign he’s cheating on me?”

Kyall tried to contain his smile. “Well, did he have a good reason not to join you?”

“I don’t think so. Maybe work, but... he could’ve had a few sick days.”

“Well, I hate to be forward, but how’s your love life?”

“Like sex and stuff?”

“Yeah.”

“Mhmm... It could be better. He doesn’t really pay much attention to me.”

Kyall **** a sigh. “I hate to say it, but that can also be a bit of a sign.”

“You have experience with these things?”

“From friends and the such.”

“Hmmm.”

“You wanna know another thing I know from experience?”

“Of course.”

“When the woman thinks cheating is going on, she's usually right. Like 90% of the time.”

“Wow. 90%. That’s a lot, isn’t it?”

“It sure is.”

Gillian rubbed her chin as she thought about what Kyall had said. She had talked to her gal pals about Hayden, and they all seemed to be of a similar mind, but she didn’t want to believe it. After all, he could be rather romantic when he wanted to be. Then again, Kyall had a lot more life experience than she did, and in her mind, he had made several good points.
