The fated meeting.

Continuing onward, Yang was eager to finish her initiation to Beacon Academy as soon as possible, unaware that her misadventure with the bramble had left her wardrobe in a more precarious state than before. Eventually the blonde exited the foliage into a small sunlit clearing. The clearing was peaceful, sunlight filtering through the leaves of the trees above, but Yang’s focus was elsewhere. She tugged subtly at her torn clothing, hoping it wouldn’t get any worse when she suddenly heard a rustling in some nearby bushes.

Curiosity spurring her on to see if the noise might reveal a fellow trainee or perhaps some wildlife.

"Anyone there?" she called out as she slowly approached the source of the noise. "New partner to be, is that you I'm hearing?"

Sticking her hands into the large collection of bushes, she shoved the dense leaves aside, revealing the source of the sound.

"Of course not..." the girl bemoaned as she narrowed her eyes at the large ursa that was now glaring directly at her.

Quickly dashing backwards, she put a fair amount of distance between herself and the monster as it roared and lunged towards her with its sharp claws extended.

"Listen buddy," she said as she raised her fists up into a defensive stance. "Although I'm always up for a good scrap, this really isn't a good time."

Tightening her makeshift miniskirt to ensure it wouldn't fall off, the blonde then rushed forward with her arm cocked back.

"So let's finish this fast and clean!"

Her fist connected with the ursa’s snout, momentarily stunning the beast and giving her a chance to follow-up with an uppercut to the jaw, discharging a round from her gauntlets at the same time. Yang maintained the pressure in order to prevent retaliation and kill the monster as quick as possible, but her **** focus on the one opponent left her oblivious to the second ursa that was approaching from her rear. A sharp pain suddenly exploded in Yang's back as the second ursa's claws raked across her in a vertical swing. She stumbled forward but quickly spun around, eyes blazing with determination. "Two at once? Just perfect!" she growled, launching into a fierce counterattack.

The ensuing fight didn't last much longer, thanks to the intervention of a newcomer who came to Yang's aid. A black-haired girl landed upon the second ursas back and plunged a massive cleaver of some kind through its skull and out its mouth, killing it instantly.

Finally, the battle was over and both girls took stock of one another.

"So, I guess this makes us partners!" Yang said cheerfully as she gave her new companion a wave. "Thanks for the assist."

"No problem." the dark-haired girl responded before properly looking over Yang's attire. "Uh, should I ask about...?" she trailed off whilst gesturing to Yang in general.

Letting out a sigh filled with annoyance, Yang grimaced before giving a brief explanation.

"Landing strategy didn't turn out out exactly as planned." she replied before shrugging. "Anyway, the name's Yang."

"Blake." the other girl supplied simply.

"Well Blake, what do you say we push on and finish things up asap? Last thing I want to happen is allow this stupid forest to mess me up anymore than it already has." Yang said as she turned her back to Blake and took the lead position.
