Celeste Gets Serious

Sorry for the delay. I’m having such a hard time writing this section. But I’m going to try to have this all finished this week. Enjoy!

There was no more bargaining after that.

She waved her hand dramatically, and the remains of her slime burst away from her as if a great gust of wind had shredded it from the inside. Shreds and droplets of the acidic pink menace flew everywhere, and could not be dodged. We all cried out in pain, as the droplets sprayed us, and hissed against our skin.

Celeste then burst forward, faster than any of us and ready to kill.

Sapphire despite being naked and the most exposed to the acid splash managed to avoid much of the damage. "Ice spike!" She was ready with a counter attack while Melli and I frantically tried to wipe the slime from our exposed skin.

Celeste had already seen this attack twice now. On the third casting of ice spike she stepped ontop of the spike as it emerged from the earth, and used it to propel herself up over our heads and onto the ceiling of the cathedral. She flipped and hit the ceiling with her feet, where the ooze at the bottom of her boots clung, and sealed her there, high above us. She then tugged at her cloak, and whipped it about.

A dozen tiny vials jerked loose from their seams, and rained down upon us.

"Scatter!" I screamed, and dove for cover.

The bottles collided with the ground, shattered, and then exploded. My goblins were ripped to shreds, I received a good spray of glass shards along my back and ribs, and could feel my robe begin to grow wet. I couldn't be sure of Melli's Injury but I heard her scream amongst the explosions. Sapphire had gotten the worst of it. Besides the damage from the explosion, the **** of the attack had ripped the mask partially off of her head. It didn't matter of it was a big rip or a small. Within moments the purple gas had invaded her lungs and **** her to sleep.

Damn Celeste.

The **** from the micro explosions had rocked me too. All the vials and bottles on me shattered. Goodbye healing and good night Sapphire.

I glared up at the ceiling where Celeste was assessing the damage of her attack. I think she had a lot to be proud of. She only had three opponents left. Me, Melli, and...

There was a loud clinking sound and the last remaining clockwork soilder shot it's massive bolt at Celeste on the ceiling. Celese, perhaps disoriented by her upsidedown orientation was unable to dodge the attack. The bolt ripped through her arm, shattering the stone-like skin, and piercing through the other side. Her arm was pulled away from her body at and awkard angle, and pinned to the ceiling. She didn't cry out in pain, but she did begin examining the wound with urgency.

"Melli!"

"On it!" She waved her staff. "Fire Orb!"

Celeste was struggling now. Her arm pinned to the ceiling at an awful angle while gravity wanted to pull her down. I don’t know how much experience or instincts you need to quickly make sense of that position but Celeste had neither. The spell hit her and exploded. I could hope, and even Pray that would be enough.

It wasn’t of course but it did produce an interesting result. When the smoke cleared Celeste was wrapped in a cocoon of solid gold. She’d turned her robes into gold, using her star ability.

“That’s three stars down.” I said to Melli as we both craned our necks up.

“What is that?”

“She can turn objects to gold, she’s using her robes as a shield.” I said.

“Gold’s melting point is quite high.” Melli sighed. “There’s no way she can move like that.”

“No.” I agreed. “She’s thinking.”

The Clockwork solider loaded another bolt and aimed it at Celeste. It soared through the air, but this time glanced easily off Celeste’s cocoon.

Damn, that would have been an easy finish.

Both Melli and i scrambled away from the falling bolt. “It’s harder than gold.” She observed.

“I’d think her skin was strong enough to withstand your spell.” I said aloud. “Why would she need another set of armor?”

“Maybe you underestimate me.”

“Undoubtedly.”

“Maybe she was prepared for the second bolt?”

“Probably. Buying herself time to… oh!” It was so obvious now. “She’s protecting her potions. And explosions would wreck everything she has on her.”

“Ah.” Melli nodded. “Think on that while I make matters a bit more pressing for her.” She raised her staff. “Smoke and ash!” An orb of flaming debris was sent up. With a ‘wumpf” it exploded and encased Celeste in a hellish could have burning smoke.

“Very nice.” I spanked Melli on the ass. I doubted she could breathe up there now.

“Hey!” Melli slapped me, and I staggered back.

“Sorry.” I said, rubbing my jaw. “It’s a compliment where I come from. She just glared in return.

Little pin pricks of pain started to was over me as the ash slowly rained down on us.

I observed the disfigured cathedral as the blazing snow came down. Fire and fire was everywhere. Then I noticed Sapphire had a glob of slime the size of a terrier covering her leg, and consuming it. “Hey!” I ran to the beast and kicked at it. All the globs Celeste shot out must have collected themselves while we were distracted.

My foot sunk into the slime, and it immediately started trying to flow up the boot and onto the flesh. “Ah shit!” I got my knife and started to slice at the thing, even as it held me and Sapphire together.

Chunks or ruined pink gellitan flew everywhere burning my skin, and yet pleasuring me at the same time. It’s like a sexual thrill was burning flesh away.

Fuck!

Using a slime should be a crime! Any attempt to wipe the thing away just smeared it further! My arms were roiling with blisters, and the pain was making my eyes water.

“Pull Sapphire down to the second floor.” Melli ordered me. Her gaze still turned stoically to the heavens.

I grunted and yanked myself and Sapphire away from the slime. Even as my foot was melting away in my boot. “I agree, let’s regroup.” Maybe it was the pain making me submissive but I didn’t even think of arguing with her.

“I’ll stay here.” Melli said firmly.

“No…” I looked at her, angrily, but saw that there would be no compromising with her.

I wasn’t the only one taking Ruby’s **** personally. It’d been Melli’s fault too, at least in her mind. She’d brought them to me, to ruin, and now she had to pay.

“You don’t have to do this.” I said, knowing it was futile.

“I can beat her.” She said evenly. “I know how.”

“We’ll take her together.”

“You need to get Sapphire to safety. I can’t let them both die.”

I looked to Sapphire’s blistering and bloody leg. Yeah, that probably needed some help. “I can’t let you die.”

She the glared at me and aimed her staff my way. “Really? Because I could watch you die right here.”

I gulped, and nodded. “Very well, Melli it’s… been a pleasure.”
