An unwanted favor.

The moment passed and Regina cleared her throat. "Ok, so now that we're good again..."

"What?" Madison asked.

"You wanna go over to your place and, you know, play with some scripts?"

Madison stared at her friend in shock. "After all that? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd love to. But doesn't it still freak you out?"

Regina shook her head. "I'm over it. You are what you are, Mads, and I'll just trust that somewhere under all that dirt and logic there's an actual soul that I'm connecting with."

"Good enough for me," Madison replied.

Pat greeted them at the door in a skimpy kimono, bowing deeply and speaking Japanese. Regina shot Madison a questioning look and Madison shrugged.

"Probably some video game bullshit Andrew has her on," she said. She unbound Pat who collapsed to the floor in a heap. While she retrieved the scripts, Regina nudged the inert golem with her sneaker.

"...so weird," she said. Madison entered the room and she looked up. "Does it ever freak you out, knowing that when you're not bound you're like this?"

Madison shrugged as she flipped through the scriptbook. "Not really. It's probably a lot like when you sleep. Ah, here we go."

She bent to place the script in Pat's mouth. She bound the golem and in moments Pat was on her feet, smiling courteously and welcoming Regina back to their home.

"So what did you have in mind?" Madison asked eagerly. "More gaming?"

Regina shook her head. "I want to try something different. Is there anything you think would be fun? Maybe make you hyper intelligent or something?"

Madison wrinkled her nose. "Ew, no. That sounds like the opposite of fun. Besides, I can get Maria to alter me whenever I want."

"May I suggest something?" Pat chimed in. Both girls looked at her, surprised. "Regina, are there any difficult relationships in your life? You could simulate conversations with Madison."

Madison's eyes lit up. "Jay! Oh, shit, Regina! I can be Jay for you!"

"What?" Regina's face flushed immediately. "You don't- I-"

"Yes!" Madison said triumphantly. "You can ask him out over and over right here in the apartment! You can have as many do-overs as you want?"

"But you don't have a script for Jay!" Regina objected.

"We have scripts for shy nerdy dudes," Madison countered. "We can start with that as a base and have Pat overlay my memories of Jay onto it. Dude, Pat, that's a fucking great idea!"

She raised her hand and Pat gave her a restrained, courteous high-five. She asked Pat to get the memory transfer paper and the golem obediently stood and went into Andrew's room. Regina continued to voice her doubts as Pay returned with the paper and Madison began sketching out all of the knowledge she had of their shared friend.

"This is crazy. It's not gonna be the same! You don't know Jay that well. Plus you'll be in your body, and I don't think-"

"You're scared," Madison said confidently. "That's fine. That's why we're doing this. Get all that nervous energy out on me, babe." She turned to Pat and handed her the page of data and her cell phone.

"Pat, you get the idea, right? We put the nerdy kid script in me,"

"I overlay you with all of this, and we set you up for a conversation with Regina," Pat finished.

"And make sure to get plenty of videos!" Madison said.
