Chapter 25

How much more?
A little further
She didn’t overthink it this time.
The moment had already decided itself. Her body knew the choreography before her mind had caught up.
Emily stood slowly, walking to the mirror on the office wall—half-length, tastefully mounted above a filing cabinet. Her reflection met her halfway: flushed cheeks, parted lips, eyes darker than she expected.
No noise outside. No footsteps. The lock still holding.
She reached for the zipper on her skirt and eased it down, letting the fabric slide off her hips and pool around her ankles. She stepped out of it without ceremony, the cool air kissing bare thigh.
Next, her blouse.
She peeled it off her shoulders and draped it over the back of her chair.
Now just her bra and panties.
Not the everyday kind—today’s set was matching, lace-trimmed, plum to match the blouse she'd worn over it. Not trashy. Not overt.
Just soft. Intentional. Beautiful.
She stood in front of the mirror, hips slightly angled. One hand lifted the phone. The other found the waistband of her panties, teasing it just an inch down at the front—just enough to hint at skin, curve, shadow.
She didn’t smile.
Didn’t pose.
Just looked.
A flick of the camera. Flash off. One photo.
She cropped it with precision: no face, not even the line of her mouth. From her collarbone down to the tops of her thighs.
Anonymous. Intimate.
She stared at it for a second. Her pulse thudded behind her breastbone like a second heartbeat.
Then she hit send.
No caption.
No emoji.
Just the image.
She set her phone face-down, the screen dimming.
And then she sat down again, legs crossed slowly, thighs just a little tense.
The air in her office felt warmer now.
Thicker.
And she didn’t dare touch the phone.
Not yet.
How fast does he respond?
Ripe for the Taking
A new mom discovers she's never been more desirable—and temptation is everywhere.
At 27, Emily Davenport is a new mother adjusting to life after childbirth—a fading marriage, a body still healing, and a routine that leaves her feeling invisible. But as she steps back into the world—work, the gym, errands—she begins to notice it: the looks, the lingering stares, the heat behind every casual touch. Men are watching her. And one by one, they make their move. Ripe for the Taking follows Emily’s slow-burn descent into temptation, where every choice—whether to resist or surrender—leads her deeper into the thrill of being wanted again. Mother. Wife. Woman. Now, she has to choose who she really wants to be.
