Chapter 96 by sexyslave sexyslave

What do they all end up doing?

Mina suggests shopping!

(Quick disclaimer, there is an anthropology based hypothesis of sorts referenced in this chapter. I do not at all claim to be an expert, nor am I asserting it as true. It's also in no way an excuse for sexism, even if it is true. Anyone who does use it as an excuse to be sexist, I have no issues calling an idiot to their face (unless they are built like football players, and within arm's reach of me. Then I would probably have the sense to be more hesitant about it, lol). That said, in this context of a fictional story, I'm perfectly willing to use it for a chapter.)

"Oh, how about some bonding between us?" Mina suggested, clapping her hands together. Everyone turned to look at her.

"Oh, what did you have in mind?" Kyoka asked her curiously.

"Knowing Mina, she wants to go shopping... Which, actually does sound a little fun right now," Eiko tilted her head in slight confusion.

"Yep! We can go to the mall, and have some fun there!" Mina nodded in agreement.

"... seriously, what is with girls and shopping?" Denki chuckled, a bit exasperated.

"... careful, Master, in case you forgot, you're standing amongst a bunch of girls yourself," Kyoka remarked, giving Denki a flat look. "You might want to be careful how you word your questions about our hobbies in the future. Wouldn't want to offend your harem..." Denki sweat a bit, slightly nervous, and Momo giggled.

"He does raise an interesting question though," Izumi remarked, tilting her own head curiously. "Why DOES shopping seem more appealing than it did when I was a guy?"

"Ah, it has to do with the slightly different brain chemistry between boys and girls," Momo explained. "Most girls do enjoy shopping more than guys do, due to the... ahem, traditional roles men and women played in humanity's evolutionary history. The men were generally the hunters who took down large prey, and because humans were persistence hunters back in the days before widespread agriculture, they hyper fixated on a particular animal until they ran it to exhaustion. The women on the other hand, tended to gather stuff like berries and other fruits and vegetables for the group."

"Okay, that's interesting, but how does that relate to what we were talking about?" Denki inquired, tilting his head, and Momo chuckled in amusement.

"It translates into slightly different behaviors between genders in general today," Izumi mused, before muttering rapidly. "Because of what roles men tended to play in prehistoric times, they still tend to have a particular mission in mind, know exactly what they want to get, and go straight for it, treating it as a task rather than a fun activity... But girls on the other hand, we browse, take our time, get whatever catches our fancy, make a day of it..." She then looked up, flushing as she once again marveled at just how easily she had slipped into thinking of herself as a girl now. That, and she realized she had done her whole fast muttering routine again.

"That's basically correct," Momo chuckled, able to follow Izumi's line of reasoning without any difficulty. "Of course, these days, we try not to treat the genders too differently, and we also know that tendencies don't translate to a one hundred percent rate. Some girls don't like shopping, and some guys do, it's just a higher percentage of girls enjoy it as a hobby rather than a chore than guys do. It's never an excuse for sexism, but it's also a simple fact that men and women are built and wired differently. Acknowledging that much isn't sexism, just biology." She then looked at Izumi and Eiko. "And before you ask, no, I didn't implant the desire to shop in you both. I just made you both exactly as you would be had you been born female instead of male. Nothing more, nothing less. Whatever other changes arose from that, was all natural."

"Ah, okay, that makes sense... Not sure I want to spend my day shopping though," Denki grumbled.

"Too bad, you are outvoted, I think!" Ochaco stuck her tongue out.

"...since when was genie ownership and having a harem a democracy?" Denki asked with a laugh, not really fighting the idea so much anymore, just playfully grousing.

"You do want to keep us happy, don't you?" Kyoka quipped. "Besides, pretty sure we'll be looking at lingerie and swimsuits, the second one being because, last I checked, there's now a perfectly good and clean beach nearby..." Izumi chuckled a bit proudly at that little acknowledgement.

"Sold!" Denki nodded, immediately texting Akemi to meet them at the mall.

How does shopping go?

More fun
