Chapter 65

Yelawolf
Do you tell Ava about seeing Kyler or don't tell her about her daughter being in the security office?
Don't tell Ava about Kyler yet
You decide to get Kyler out without Ava knowing. Not wanting just yet for your worlds to collide, you gently tug Ava's arm, guiding her away from the security office. She looks up at you with a question in her eyes, but you smile and reassure her that you've just remembered something important. The lie feels heavy on your tongue, but you swallow it down, knowing you'll need to deal with this situation delicately.
"Hey I'll see you back home, I got to do something for my job." You murmur to Ava, hoping she'd buy the excuse. Her eyes widen slightly but she nods, understanding that sometimes work calls even when you're out with the family. You give her a quick kiss and tell her to grab what she wants from the shops while you take care of your 'work' emergency.
Once you're out of Ava's line of sight, you make a beeline for the security office, your heart racing. Kyler is standing outside the office now, looking like she's just been caught with her hand in the cookie jar. She spots you approaching and a look of relief mixed with dread washes over her features. "Dad, I can explain." She stammers out.

"Explain what?" You ask trying to keep your voice even. Kyler's eyes dart around, looking for an escape. She's wearing a tight tank top and shorts, showcasing the fit body she's developed from her gym sessions. The sight of her in trouble does strange things to you, but you push those thoughts aside.
"I just had a little...misunderstanding with one of the stores." She says, fidgeting with her fingers.

The security guard crush that bubble as he said. "Your dad's going to have to come with us to sort this out. You can't just shoplift like that!" Kyler's eyes widened with fear.
"What did she take?"
"She took a few high end jewelry's, sir. It's a big deal, but we need to follow protocol." The security guard says, his tone a mix of annoyance and sympathy. You feel your blood pressure rising, not just because of the trouble Kyler's in, but because you know that Ava will be devastated when she finds out.
"How much will it be to pay for the problem to go away?" You ask.
The security guard looks you over, sizing up the situation. He sighs and says, "Look, I can't just let her go without taking a picture of her if she does it again. But I can keep it off the record if you pay for the items and promise she won't do it again. The price is four thousand dollars and two more thousand to keep my mouth shut."
Do you pay to get your daughter out of trouble or let her figure out her own way out of the mess that she created for herself?
