Do you tell Ava about seeing Kyler or don't tell her about her daughter being in the security office?
Tell Ava and get your oldest daughter out of trouble(1+ good husband point)
You regretfully decide to tell Ava about seeing Kyler in the security office. You know it might ruin the mood of the day, but keeping secrets isn't something that's ever been your strong suit, especially when it comes to your children.
"Honey," you begin tentatively, "I think we need to talk."
Ava's smile falters, and she turns to face you, the romance novel in her hand slipping to her side. "What's wrong?"
You take a deep breath, steeling yourself for the conversation. "I saw Kyler in the security office back there. She looked like she was in a bit of trouble."

Ava's eyes widen in surprise, the romance novel in her hand now forgotten. "What? What happened?" Concern etches lines on her forehead as she searches your face for answers. "It can't be her. She's in college. It must be someone who looks like her."
But you know it was Kyler, the resemblance unmistakable. "It was definitely her," you confirm, feeling the weight of the secret you're about to share. "We should go back and make sure she's okay."
Ava's hand tightens around yours as you both retrace your steps back to the security office. Her mind races with the possibilities of what could have landed Kyler in trouble. You approach the office knocking on the door as a bead of sweat forms on your brow. The older security guard, a burly man with a stern look, opens the door.
"Is everything alright?" he asks, his gaze shifting between the two of you.
"I think that our daughter, Kyler, is in there," Ava says, her voice steady despite the worry in her eyes. The guard looks surprised but nods and steps aside to let you both in.

Kyler is sitting on a chair, her head down, looking utterly defeated. Her clothes are slightly disheveled, and there's a look of defiance mixed with fear on her face when she sees you. "Dad?" she says, her voice a mix of relief and dread. "Mom?"
The guard starts to explain the situation. "She was caught shoplifting, ma'am. It's our policy to call the police on grown adults, but we haven't done that yet."
Ava's eyes widen, and she rushes to Kyler's side, her heart racing. "What happened, sweetie?" she asks, her voice filled with motherly concern.
Kyler's shoulders slump, and she looks up at you and Ava with a mix of guilt and anger. "It was just a misunderstanding." she mumbles, avoiding eye contact.
You tell her to leave with Ava as you pay for the things Kyler was trying to steal. "Meet you back at the house. We need to talk as a family." you say firmly.
They leave the mall, the tension in the air thick enough to slice with a knife. The car ride home is silent, with only the occasional sniffle from Kyler breaking the oppressive quiet. Ava keeps glancing at her, her eyes filled with a mix of disappointment and confusion, while Kyler stares out the window, her mind racing with thoughts of how to explain herself.
You back in the office stare at the man. "Look," you begin, "it's a mistake. My daughter isn't a thief."

The guard raises an eyebrow, clearly skeptical of your claim. "Let's just settle this," you say, reaching for your wallet.
You pay for the items Kyler was accused of stealing, the price feeling like a bargain compared to the potential fallout of a police record. The guard nods curtly, his expression unchanged, and you sign the necessary paperwork, your hand slightly shaking.
