In the backyard of Edward, a law student.

The Lamp clanged against the concrete on the edge of a pool in a suburban area. It was in some middle class fellow's backyard. It laid there, gleaming in the sun.

Edward Dawson was a fairly intelligent young man with average looks in his own opinion, though in reality, he was a bit above average in that department. Not star actor level handsome, but he was easy on the eyes with well kept short black hair, green eyes, a decent physique, and a lightly tanned skin tone, and being almost six feet tall certainly helped. He was currently at the local college with his girlfriend Emma, having a casual conversation in the cafeteria.

Now, where he was decent looking, Emma was drop dead gorgeous. Easily scoring at least a nine, if not a ten in terms of conventional beauty standards. She was a redhead, with long, silky hair, blue eyes, fair skin, and a great figure, with C cup breasts, and nice wide hips. She also had a good amount of freckles, which Edward found endearing. While he studied law, she studied psychology, seeking to help people with therapy. How he was lucky enough to get with her, he didn't know.

They had been talking about their days up to that point, when Edward's phone buzzed with a motion alert from the security cameras in his back yard. "Oh, sorry, gotta check this," he told Emma, pulling his phone out, and he opened the feed. "...nothing. Probably just a bird or a squirrel..." he grumbled.

"You're pretty paranoid about home intruders, aren't you?" Emma teased him.

"I kind of have to be... Claire Stansfield has been trying to use our pool without permission lately, just because Dad's on that extended business trip..." Edward grimaced. Claire was known as the Alpha Bitch of the neighborhood, always entitled to everything she wanted. It didn't help that her dad was the local police chief, so she could get away with just about anything. Edward still lived with his father, kind of a necessity in this economy, but he usually had the house to himself after his mom had amicably divorced his dad, who spent a lot of time traveling for his job, which had strained their relationship until they mutually agreed to call it off.

"Ugh, her again?" Emma groaned. She hated Claire for obvious reasons, especially since she and Edward had had the misfortune of going to the same high school as her until graduation three years ago. "Still making life hell wherever she can, huh?"

"Unfortunately, I live on the same street as her, and without camera footage, Daddy Dearest will bail her out every time," Edward rolled his eyes. "But enough bitching about her, how was class today?" he asked her, before the conversation was steered back into a more pleasant route.
