Chapter 5

Does she believe?
Lina wishes for something brashly thought out
Lina stared at the wand in her hand, her fingers trembling slightly as the copier hummed back to life. The sparkles that had danced around it moments ago were gone, leaving her with a queasy mix of disbelief and curiosity. She glanced around the office, her heart pounding. No one else seemed to have noticed… or cared. Rufus was already barking at someone else on the other side of the room, his voice grating like nails on a chalkboard.
She slipped the wand into her pocket, her mind racing. This can’t be real, she thought, but the evidence was right there in front of her—the copier was fixed, and she hadn’t even touched it. Her feet carried her to the break room almost on autopilot, the weight of the wand pressing against her thigh a constant reminder of its impossible existence.
The break room was empty, save for the faint hum of the vending machine in the corner. Lina leaned against the counter, her breath coming in shallow gasps. What if it really is magic? The thought sent a jolt of excitement through her, tinged with a strange sense of power. She pulled the wand out again, turning it over in her hands. The wood was smooth, polished to a soft sheen, and it felt warm against her skin.
“Okay,” she whispered to herself, her voice barely audible over the hum of the vending machine. “Let’s test this.”
Her mind raced with possibilities. She could wish for a raise, a promotion, or maybe just for Rufus to leave her alone for once. But something darker, more playful, tugged at the edges of her thoughts. A smirk crept across her face. “I wish… I wish Rufus would turn into a pre-op trans woman in a bikini and start hitting on me.”
The wand glowed faintly in her hand, a soft golden light that made her heart skip a beat. For a moment, nothing happened. Then, from down the hall, she heard a loud thud, followed by a string of curses that sounded distinctly like Rufus’s voice. But… higher pitched? Lina’s eyes widened as she peeked around the corner of the break room.
There, in the middle of the office, stood Rufus—or what used to be Rufus. His once-bulging gut was gone, replaced by a slim waist and hips that swayed as he stumbled forward. His polo shirt had somehow transformed into a bright red bikini top that barely contained his now-ample chest. His legs, once tree trunks, were long and shapely, ending in strappy high heels that clicked against the floor as he regained his balance.
Lina’s jaw dropped. No fucking way.
Rufus—or, well, she—looked around in confusion, her hand flying to her throat as she let out a high-pitched gasp. “What the hell is going on?” she squeaked, her voice now soft and feminine. Her eyes landed on Lina, and she froze. For a moment, they just stared at each other.
Then, something shifted in Rufus’s expression. Her lips curved into a sly smile, and she sauntered toward Lina with a confidence that made Lina’s stomach do flips. Oh no.
“Lina,” Rufus purred, her voice dripping with a sultry sweetness that made Lina’s cheeks burn. “I don’t know what just happened, but… you’re looking awfully good over there.”
Lina’s mouth went dry. She took a step backward, but Rufus was already closing the distance between them. Her eyes raked over Lina’s body with an intensity that made her skin tingle. “I’ve always wanted to tell you,” Rufus continued, her voice dropping to a whisper, “but I never had the guts. Guess I do now.”
Before Lina could react, Rufus was right in front of her, their bodies only inches apart. Lina could smell her perfume—something floral and seductive—and feel the heat radiating off her skin. Rufus reached out, her fingers brushing against Lina’s arm in a way that sent shivers down her spine.
“You’re so… soft,” Rufus murmured, her gaze locking onto Lina’s. Her hand traveled up Lina’s arm, leaving a trail of goosebumps in its wake. “I could just eat you up.”
Lina’s heart was pounding so loud she was sure Rufus could hear it. This is insane, she thought, but she couldn’t bring herself to pull away. There was something undeniably magnetic about this version of Rufus, something that made her knees weak and her breath catch in her throat.
Rufus leaned in closer, her lips brushing against Lina’s ear as she whispered, “What do you say we get out of here? I think we’ve got some… unfinished business to attend to.”
What does Lina say?
