Chapter 2 by Err0rkatze Err0rkatze

Okay, what WAS that?

Is that.. A person?

Both their hearts jolted a little as Steve's fixation was abruptly broken. The ground behind Vittoria looked like it shifted and moved. It was hard to see just out of the back-lighting's spill, causing Steve to squint and try and make it out. "Err.." he hummed, as Vittoria set her leg down and leaned rearward with her hands braced on the top of the headstone. "Very funny. Let me guess, it's behind meee?" she mocked in a deadpan tone with an expression to match.

"No, shh! It looked like the ground..?"

"Errrgh.."

This time it wasn't Steve that made the sound; more disturbed growl than contemplation. "Is there a fucking crackhead here?!" Steve asked in a panic. Soon he'd have his answer as one of the backlights was knocked over, nigh on making him jump from his skin as Vittoria visibly jerked and widened her sight. "STEVE!!" she snapped, seeing the unlit form of a man lurking beside the remaining lamp, seemingly larger than Steve's shorter than average frame. Vittoria lacked the time to even point it out before Steve's attention was once again drawn behind her, the knocked-over backlight now illuminating the hallowed earth. Not only was it moving; bulging and morphing like something trying to get out, but he witnessed what could only be described as a monster crawling and shuffling it's way toward them. The thing had no legs, but looked almost human -- rotten and decomposed with glimpses of it's skull on display.

"FUCK THIS!!" Steve yelped and hastily started to beeline away. In his urgency, he'd bump the figure that was now beside him, shoving it with his shoulder as a startled shudder shot through him. Despite the rapid onset of the looming night, Steve could see just enough to try and run for the gate, losing his hat in the process and haste. Vittoria looked on, startled at what had become of the fleeing man. Before long Steve was out of sight, lost into the darkness of the deepening night, with Vittoria unaware of what lurked behind her.

"Nnrughh..."

A slightly higher-pitched groan came out of the darkness - not from the figure infront this time. Slowly the form ahead came into view, crooked leg-first and hulking in it's posture. It hadn't even made it into the full spill of the backlighting yet; it didn't need to for Vittoria to make out it's unnerving appearance. Blackish-blue and grey mottled skin adorned it's arms and what she could see of it's face, like something that had long since oxidized or been burned. Broken, fleshy and bloody from the numerous patches of skin, sores and wounds it displayed, even through it's largely torn and tattered shirt. The thing lumbered stiffly, soon displaying the partial lack of lips and somewhat intact teeth.

What now?

More fun
