I don’t know if she realized that I saw the expression on her face and more importantly in her eyes. Eva wanted Ryan just as much as she wanted me when we first married. There was a raw lust that if unchecked would lead her into Ryan’s clutches. I didn’t want her to think I didn’t trust her with my boss. So I just kept my mouth shut as they met in person.

But of course I started to think that was she really satisfying my needs. After all, if she was looking out for other men, then why shouldn’t I look out for a female who would be willing to do so. That was when I spotted Veronica Miller, now Veronica Carter, Ryan’s wife. Suddenly I couldn’t believe that Ryan wanted anything to do with Eva, not when compared with his trophy wife.

Still maybe if I played this right, maybe, just maybe I could comfort Veronica when she learned about her husband and Eva. Suddenly I began to feel slimy inside at the thought that was running through my mind. Whenever I glanced in Ryan’s and Eva’s direction I got a shudder traveling along my nerves. Inside my mind, Dammit, I let myself get caught between them and possible heaven! How do I reply so that I don’t ruin any chance with Veronica, but at the same time that I don’t condone what she’s doing with my boss of all people?

I take my eyes away from them to get a quick glance at Veronica who is just standing to my left, apparently unaware how she had just spoken to. Maybe she doesn’t remember me from college or that there is something else bugging her that Ryan flirting with Eva had brought to the surface again? Great Veronica turned her head and looked directly at me.
