Situation salvaged?
Of course not, she runs
"Yah, big problem actually," she sneered. "You blew it, dude." True to her threat, she ran out of the room.
"Fuck!" I said to myself. Did I hear her yelling through the glass window? The whole basement was going to know about me in a moment.
With few other options, I grabbed a conveniently located rock and started smashing at the window. Luckily, it was old-school pane glass, not a newer tempered variety, so it broke fairly easily. Unluckily, there's a reason most windows are laminated nowadays. Razor sharp shards of glass pierced my arm in multiple places. Adrenaline kept me from feeling much pain, but the blood flowed freely. I frantically reached through the broken window to unlatch the lock. I felt more cuts in my hands and arms as I pushed it open.
With less grace than a panda rolling around its enclosure I slid, fell and tumbled through the opening and down a meter or so into the basement room. Well, I was in it now. I needed to bandage my arm soon, so I looked around for fabric or anything to staunch the bleeding.
