Chapter 6 by Bushdid9/11

What’s wrong with Rob?

Hooked!

Rob could feel his graduation gown pulling away from his body. The once loose piece of clothing became tight around his chest and felt like it was pulling up in the back. Turning around, he saw several very bad things: A gleeful-looking Hannah, A hook caught in the back of his gown, and the mechanics of the flagpole that it attached to. Someone had activated the flagpole to start raising the flag, only it wasn’t attached to a flag anymore!

Panicking, Rob looked around for help. He spotted the dean and called her over.

“Mrs. Krebs, please help me!”

The 40-something woman came up to the podium.

“What’s the matter Rob? Are you nervous or something?”

“No, no, it’s not that.” He said, his voice cracking.

He turned around and showed her the hook that had now pulled up enough of his gown that the back of his tighty-whiteys were visible.

“Oh my!” Said Mrs. Krebs, blushing at the sight of the young mans underwear. She looked over at the flagpole, slowly reeling in her valedictorian.

“Well, Rob.” She said, solemnly. “The flagpole is hooked up so that once it starts raising the flag, nothing can stop it until then.”

Rob was shocked.

“What can I do then? You can’t just let this thing drag me up to the top of the flagpole!”

“Umm.” Mrs. Krebs blushed even deeper than before. “I’m afraid that there’s only one way to get out of this predicament.”

The laughter that rang out from the audience reminded Rob that they could hear everything perfectly through the microphone. He also couldn’t believe what the dean of his school had just told him to do.

“No way!” Rob shouted, blushing at the thought. “I can’t take the gown off here, not in front of all these people.”

“I’m sorry to hear that, Robert. But I’m afraid that it’s the only way.”

What does Rob do?
