"Yes." Monica said, taking a breath to compose herself. "First, I feel I must thank you all. I thought I would never breathe fresh air again for as long as I lived."
"How did you end up in such an awful place anyway, Monica? I heard you went missing in House Ochs territory." Edelgard interjected.
Monica nodded, not concerned with the interruption. "I did. As a matter of fact, I was on the verge of graduation when I was kidnapped by the strangest people. Oh, how silly of me not to introduce myself. I'm Monica von Ochs. I'm the eldest child of Baron Ochs, and one of Her Highness's most loyal subjects. Seeing as you saved my life, I plan to devote that very life back to helping your cause." She finished in an overly formal fashion.
Edelgard, merely shook her head with a slight grin. "You've not changed at all—though I do appreciate the enthusiasm."
"Monica was a Black Eagle in last year's class. One might say she's part of the old guard." Hubert added.
Monica drooped a bit at that. "I'm not sure how I feel about you calling people old." Dorothea chuckled a bit at that, and Byleth suppressed the urge to follow suit - as young as Hubert was, his complexion made him look like he was 40 sometimes.
"Back to the matter at hand." Byleth interrupted before they got too off topic. "Do you know who kidnapped you?"
"You're right. Sorry mister..." Monica looks at him with a tilt of her head.
"Ah, this is our instructor, Professor Byleth." Dorothea took the liberty of introducing him.
"Ah, thank you for that, Professor Byleth." She bows to him before clearing her throat. "The one who kidnapped me was surely Tomas the librarian."
There was a palpable feeling of disbelief at this. "Tomas? Are you sure?" Linhart responded first.
"I'm certain of what I saw." Monica defended herself, Edelgard moving to her side. "I can vouch for her. Monica's memory is truly exceptional. She's capable of remembering any face she's ever seen. If she says it was Tomas, It was him."
"Y-yes. And th-thank you for the compliment, my Lady." Monica blushed hard at the praise.
"She's so cute when she's flustered.~" Sothis cooed, again ignored by those few who could hear her. Byleth mused on this. As helpful as Tomas had been to him, this could not go uninvestigated. "We need to report this to the knights." He said out loud, before tilting his head at the sounds of armored footsteps.
"Speak of the goddess..." Dorothea smiled to herself as they saw the Knights of Seiros coming towards them, Alois at the head.
"Yes?" Sothis said cheekily into her ear, Dorothea just swatting away the genie for the moment.
