Arc 3: Ochaco Uraraka

Location: U.A Academy

"So... How did it went?" Tsuyu asked me as we were lunching, Tsuyu on my left as Momo was on my right, I could also feel some odd stares but was unsure from where.

"It went poorly, Izuku- Deku... No I will call him Izuku I can't, Izuku doesn't want to date her, something something, from what I got is traumas, Deku feels off without his quirk and he also feels that Uraraka has some trouble with relationships, he most likely believes, or from what I got, that its better to give each other some times, something about someone dying and being in love with him? Them? It was weird not sure what was all that about"

"... Toga" Tsuyu replied quietly as Momo stared worried

"Sorry?"

"The girl she means is Himiko Toga. Toga and Ochaco fought on the war that was against all for one, she ended up stabbing Ochaco but at the end she realised she was doing wrong and sacrifices herself to save Ochaco during the battle. After suffering severe injuries, Toga gives Ochaco her remaining blood, which saves her. Despite her villainous nature, she wanted to do some good for the person who save her in a way" I tried my best to not comment on the fact she is the one responsible for stabbing her nor that this sounds a bit insane when told like that but it sounded really really serious.

"I-I see"

"But its weird Uraraka has never shown anything about that, well maybe at first but nowadays I have never seen her speak of it or actually be affected by it"

"Maybe Izuku is projecting. I don't know, the guy said she was in love with him too so there is that... Its just some dumb drama that they are not dating"

"Jack be nice" Tsuyu said once more

"Jack, perhaps its maybe the idea that Deku thinks she has trouble, maybe if she saw her more... Ladylike he would be open to the idea of dating her?"

"Ladylike how, she is a woman" Momo stared at me with the same glare Tsuyu gives me when I say something dumb.

"I mean in the way that you stare at us, as a partner and lovers" She explains before I turn to look at her with a smug face.

"Didn't know we were dating, I would gladly be your boyfriend too Momo" I said with such elegant voice before she turned around facing the other way.

"Don-don't tease me so much Jack I am trying to get to terms with dating you and Tsuyu"

"Oh... I mean you are not dating Tsuyu, you don't need to kiss her... Unless you want to... Which I approve and encourage" Tsuyu slapped the back of my head again.

"You are buying me that cake from that nice restaurant as apology"

"Sorry... So what now should we let things be as they are?"

"Not quite I had an idea actually"

"What would the idea be?"

"Jack, Can you take Ochaco out to eat something maybe?"

"...-Sorry I wasn't paying attention what exactly are you asking me to do here?"

"I want you to try and make Ochaco go on a date, but not a romantical one, try to play it romantical but without romance involved, if Ochaco can show Deku that she is ready for dating maybe Deku would take the advances"

"Oh that totally won't backfire" I said with a sarcastic tone

"Two cakes now"

"Look I am just saying they should just go on a date but they complicate things"

"Well maybe Tsuyu its up to something, if you take her on a date you could also show Deku that she is actually fine with going out, dating and who knows if he gets jealous he might confess"

"Or he hates me and I don't want Deku's mom to hate me too- I mean deku, Izuku, Izuku Midoriya, I don't like that nickname you guys have for him its just, I don't- Look okay what I am trying to say is that maybe dating her is not the best plan?"

"Hmmmm... Do you dislike Ochaco?"

"Also what was that about Izuku's mother, Kero"

"What no? I barely know her. Also nothing, just a nice woman I guess"

"Then what's the issue, if you date her and she likes you, you end up with three girlfriends, if she doesn't like you Izuku ends up with one right"

"I mean... Its not about the girls is just-" Momo was blushing as she was included in those girlfriends number.

"-Hahaha wow, I mean we are not dating dating yet Tsu! Give me more time to think about it" Momo deflected once more as Tsuyu just stared for a second.

"Oh- You guys haven't done it"

"WHAT!" Momo said outloud

"Its okay let me know when it happens" Tsuyu responded calmly it was quite outlandish seeing such scene, never knew someone would be so okay with me being this open in a relationship... And here I am not helping her back, man I was being selfish...

"Okay I will help with Ochaco, will talk to her later"

"Good, just make sure to not say to her that you are taking her out because you feel bad or something, I know you are straightforward but don't be stupid she is my best friend Jack, be really nice to her" Momo was blushing as Tsuyu was completely calmed "So uh- Do you like Izuku's mom or something?"

"She is an angel..."

"I see, Kero"

"Also if you were to become chubby you would look kinda like her you know, I just realised that, with the green hair and the-"

"Three cakes"

"Fair enough that would just make you chubby quicker"

"Jack, shut up for once"

Afterclass

Everyone was packing up to leave to their rooms, while I was preparing mentally where to go, from what Tsuyu said she likes mochi because its good ice-cream and cheap to make, she is carefree, she doesn't like going to places that require much money due to her being kind of poor... But I can handle the money stuff myself can I not? However Tsu said that she also hated people buying stuff for her due to being kind of poor. So that might have the contrarian effect, perhaps... I can think of this later.

I approached from behind doubting myself for a moment, it felt harder to invite a girl out even if i had experience, not because I was timid rather because I was trying to plan how to ask someone out, I guess most people go through this feeling, I simply touched her shoulder as she turned around confused.

"Hey Uraraka, Ochaco? Uuuuh not sure which name you prefer since Japanese people have some rule about names I don't quite get" Perfect approach in my opinion.

"Uraraka its fine, Do you need help with anything Jack?"

"Yup! Wanted to ask you if you wanna hang out?"

"Oh sure! Who else is coming? Where are we going?"

"Well as for who, its just me and as for where, there is a mochi ice-cream shop and heard you like those, Wanna go?"

"Ah... AH! Li-like a-"

"Yeah like a date, sure!" She was shocked by the suggestion, it came out of nowhere, it was something that never occurred to her, that maybe another guy was interested in her.

"I we-well I- D-don't-" Uraraka thought any reason on why she shouldn't go, she thought that she could say that she didn't have any money or that she wasn't interested but as she was about to reply she was pulled back by both Tsuyu and Mina.

"Jack give us a moment!" Mina said with enthusiasm behind her voice. Both girls started to talk to her, making Uraraka more nervous and flustered, I just simply stare at them as I looked to the side at Sero, he gave me two thumbs up as if approving of me, kinda weird but I gave thumbs ups back, after a while they came back, instead of letting Uraraka talk Mina was the one who responded for me.

"She says she would love to but first you gotta let her change because going in a school uniform is weird, so perhaps just let us dress her more casually and then you two can hang out"

"Uuuuuh, sure, that sounds alright"

"Good to know, wait us at the entrance at 5:00 p.m make sure she comes back before 8:00 p.m but if she doesn't let her stay at your house okay?"

"Sounds fair, yeah"

"Good to know! See you around Jack, dress nice!"

"... Cool" It was weird I had a date with someone I didn't plan to date, new experiences overall but I didn't complain she was a cute girl.

Location: Outside the academy, 5:05 p.m

I was waiting outside just relaxing, checking my messages with a quite long and detailed instruction of do's and don't from Tsu that way the date goes well, most specifically was to avoid making her feel embarrassed, nervous, insulted, or in any way ashamed of hanging out with me, to avoid being straightforward, too direct, mean or overall, in Tsuyu's words 'A meanie'.

As I waited for her I finally noticed her coming out of the academy she wore... Something normal actually, a tanktop, bracelets, earrings, a pink purse, jeans, she wasn't over the top like Momo or more casually formal like Tsu, she wore, casual casual clothes which made me feel good about my usual just jacket over shirt and jeans style, both our jeans were ripped jeans which made us look the same.

"Hi Jack" She kept walking waving at me as I looked at her back, Nice. "Your hair looks longer"

"Oh when I hang out I grew my hair, when I do hero work I shorten it, shorter hair is less easy to grab"

"I see... Quite odd, you can grow your hair and shorten it" She then giggled "But its still looking a bit messy don't you think?" I straighten my hair in an instant but she made it messy again patting my head "I like it messy looks good on you!"

"Zup! We both have ripped jeans, I guess you are more of casual fashion type"

"Ah! they are ripped back there?" She looked behind her worried "Sorry they were normal jeans when I bought them I just wear out my clothes" She already was blushing from my statement, something told me that Tsuyu was going to scold me for saying that

"Eh they look great don't worry, thanks for coming"

"It-its fine, I never expected you to ask me out on a date"

"Why not? You are as pretty as a flower" I wink my eye at her, trying to be flirty but she looked to the side, I felt rejected for a moment and went back to my more normal self. "What I mean is you shouldn't be surprised"

"Well its the first one I go"

"Do you- Okay sorry I was about to say something mean, I am quite surprised most of you haven't gone on dates"

"Hero work is very busy sometimes... Wait, How do you know the others haven't gone on dates"

"Uuuuuh Tsuyu told me?" I asked trying to divert the fact I am dating Tsu and pseudo-dating Momo.

"Ah yeah they also got you in this I almost forgot"

"Got me in this?"

"Its nothing its nothing! I just want to have fun today, I think I been too stressed today"

"Sure wanna talk about each other, likes, dislikes, tastes, dis-tastes, anything, get to know each other"

"Oh, going straight at it I guess? M-makes sense, yeah" I raised an eyebrow as I didn't understand what she meant by that.

"AH IGNORE ME SORRY!"

"No need to be anxious, come on let's go, place is not so far from here" I extended my arm hoping for her to grab it, but instead she clenched her purse and looked away, she was... Even more distant than I hoped for

Location: Near Ice Cream shop

"Hmmmm" She looked uncomfortable, has she never been to this place? "Are you new to this street, its cool, nothing dangerous happens here"

"Huh? Oh no! Not that, not worried of a criminal or something, we can stop him anytime, its just, it looks uhm... Expensive, too much for my current money" Right she was sort of poor

"No, don't worry we can order some nice ice cream and then walk around, no need to spend much money, I promise you that your funds are secure... So Tsuyu tells me you want to be hero for the money right?" She cringed her face, getting red of admitting that, Was that a not good thing to say perhaps?

"No its not like, it sounds, my parents and I come from... More humble beginnings so for me saving its necessary specially in this line of work"

"I see... If you ever need something let me know, I hate my father and I wouldn't mind leeching off money from his bank account" She looked worried at me

"Oh uh, sorry to hear, Are you okay?"

"Uh yeah? Why wouldn't I be"

"Cause of your father... It just sounds like he has done too many awful things to you, perhaps you two can talk it out?" She was actually highly concerned, unlike the other people at Nemo that brush that off, having their own family issues, she looked very worried about my family, right, Japan is quite conservative with his family values I guess

"Its not as bad as it sounds, I promise, no need to worry about a thing okay? Its just some long family issue going on, talkign it out doesn't matter... Its not bad, nor I am hurt nor I have a trauma, its just, family sometimes falls apart" She slowly came to me and hug me from behind, as if to make me feel better, felt condescending... But it also felt nice to be held like this. "Its alright Uraraka, seriously not a big deal"

"Okay... You just sound sad, if you ever want to talk-"

"Its fine seriously, its nothing, just dumb family stuff you know"

"It doesn't sound dumb" I wanted to deflect this conversation and I got the best excuse.

"And we are here, ice cream shop! Wanna order from the same cup or split?"

"Huh? Uuuuh uhm... Which one is cheaper?" I smiled as I went in opening the door for her.

After a few minutes she forgot what we were talking about and we waited for our order, I decided to focus on her, solely on her "So Uraraka, tell me more about you, I know a little about yoru family, why you want to be a hero, all the gig, but I don't think I really have gotten to know you better, hobbies, likes, activities, anything that you enjoy doing?"

"Well uhm- Heroing doesn't well more like I don't! Don't do much stuff... I guess Judo? I like martial arts- I have not much hobbies. I uuuh I recently been trying to be the best hero that I can be like Deku was, is? Uhm although I think I am repeating myself, s-sorry I am trying to say something here"

"Yeah that's how-" I stopped myself from saying 'that's how conversations work' wanting to not sound like a douchebag "-Its okay, well there must be something, sports, music, fashion, something must be there"

"I really haven't thought much about it, I uuuh I care about my friends and I want to make them feel safe and happy"

"That's nice, I will admit but what do you want? I mean you said martial arts, Have you tried going to tournaments? Yoshi has won a few, he is my master, martial artist too, he is so fucking brutal to the point-"

"Language"

"Sorry- To the point he has broken some of my bones"

"OH MY GOD THAT'S AWFUL"

"No no its okay! I can snap them back in my body"

"And that's disturbing..."

"Well its a good way of regeneration besides in Nemo training you always get hurt I am used by now"

"And... That's again sad, Jack I can't help but feel that you have a bit of a sad life"

"Well, your parents sound bad, your academy sounds more like a military camp, you don't talk about friends, hobbies, yet you seem open to speak with people, could it be that you are lonely"

"Ah sorry! I think that was so uncalled for" It made me wonder for a moment... She wasn't wrong I don't have much friends actually in Nemo, had one, not anymore. "I think I am ruining this date"

"No its okay, I guess I just ramble a lot and sometimes rant about my life when I have nothing to say, there is good things, dated many people, went places, I went to egypt once saw the pyramids... My power allows me to locate different materials- and let me tell you those pyramids do have a lot of gold inside it, but What about you? You don't speak much, you are more shy than I expected too, carefree but also why about your personal life"

"Well uhm, to be honest I have not much to speak about, I wish I had great tales, but half my tales are sad too, the war, Deku leaving the academy, Toga, heroing has been harder for me than expected, but I got to meet great friends"

"... We should, spar one day, your martial arts versus mine and maybe play something, Do you like basketball?"

"Huh? OH I mean yeah sounds good! I never done martial art sparring with another person, although I am not good at basketball"

"Its okay, neither I am" I smiled finally bringing a smile to her face "I am a board games guy myself"

"Oooooh what games do you have"

"... None with me currently.. Nor at home, I like watching videos of people playing them"

"Have you played our card game, I am a support card in that game"

"Seriously! How do you guys have a card game?!" She started to giggle after she heard me say that, soon our ice cream arrived, it looked delicious and we decided to dig in, spending some time in silence but not an uncomfortable one, we were just enjoying every bite of the ice cream. "Huh not bad, I am not a big fan of vanilla"

"What is your favorite"

"Everyone's favorite, chocolate, for me the mixture and what is composed of its like, poof, my brain implodes with chocolate, one of the best things of my quirk is that seeing how something its built adds up more to the pleasure of it, chocolate adds up to dopamine, I am able to feel chemical"

"Hehehe, well vanilla its like that for me but for the opposite reason, it does great on itself" I took a spoonful of chocolate and approached it to her mouth.

"Well some chocolate is not bad once in a while right?"

She looked at the spoon with a blushing expression but opened her mouth regardless and took a biteful, she then smiled looking at me with a happy face, expression that went away as quick as it came.. "Uhm Jack listen I need to say something, this is nice and I am grateful you took me out but uhm- Don't be upset, I kind of like Deku, been trying to go on a date with him and Tsuyu suggested that maybe going on a date with you would make him jealous and ask me out later or at the least show that I am interested in dating and well- I feel that I am using you, misleading you onto dating me"

"Oh! That's okay" I said with a smile, good to know that we were both going for the same.

"Sorry?"

"Its okay! Tsuyu kind of asked me the same, thought it would be a good idea to cheer you up, we can just hang out like this, be friends after all, no funny business"

"NGGHHHH I was feeling so bad sorry!" She said bowing down to me on the table

"Its alright Uraraka, besides, maybe the plan goes well and if it doesn't I can give you some tips on dating"

"Hehe, I didn't think you were the flirting type"

"Yeah didn't they- Oh wait- Oh... Oh you don't know I see, oops"

"What do I not know?"

"Nothing..." I try to dismiss it with a flustered expression she stared at me intensely before saying

"Wait are you interested in a girl in our class?"

"You could say that sure..."

"YOU ARE DATING SOMEONE?"

"I never said that." I looked more nervous now, was she good at reading facial expressions? Or maybe I shouldn't hint at something else. Man, I felt under investigation.

"Do I know her?"

"I never said that I was dating someone" She grinned and pointed at me

"But you are, aren't you?" Before giggling "Oh wait, does she know you are hanging out with me?"

"Yes of course she does, I wouldn't cheat on her" Oooooh i just slipped there.

"Oh! Its Tsuyu right!" I fucked up.

"I never said that and don't go around spreading-"

"That's why she was so sure that you could help- That's also why she keeps hanging out so much with you and glancing at you, I once saw her coming out of your house. OOOOOH that's so cute! And you guys are keeping it in secret, well if its not Tsuyu it has to definitely be Momo at least, I saw her the other day drawing and making a hero costume for you, isn't that cute? Oh actually who is it, no wonder Mina likes relationships so much, it sounds fun, like a little mistery!" I stared at her feeling like I was very bad at hiding secrets, I was so getting scolded by the two after this.
