Housewarming
All moved in
I'm excited to move in. All my belongings fit in a medium small U-Haul. I drive for three hours and am so glad to arrive. These two gap years before I choose a university, are to prepare me for the entirety of the world! I don't really have a plan, or a budget figured out; I'll look into job listings in newspapers and meet people and talk and find what fits for me. The apartment is on the fifth floor, has a lobby and a doorman, and an elevator. I knew about the lobby, but not the rest. Doorman is kind and offers some lifting assistance for the bigger items I've lugged, and chats with me. He's hopeful I'll work out. He can tell I'm excited! Close to the downtown metropolis and close the public library, as far and distant from everything as I've experienced.
I like to read and drink tea and enjoy quiet spaces. I've been homeschooled and haven't had any girlfriends, nor had any good introduction into sex and sexuality beyond thirst traps on my algorithm and am generally naive about that whole world. I'm not really looking for a relationship, but my mind does wander, considering all the possibilities in a city. After a few more hours, I've got everything unpacked and in its own place. Everything is tidy and I'm just starting to settle in.
And my new housemate comes home! I hear the keys jingle at the door and find myself preening to give a good impression. It is definitely strange meeting someone for the first time inside their apartment, but Tony is a gentleman, athletic, polite, has good furniture and very gentle decor. He's taller than me, certainly over six feet, broad shouldered, with big hands, and abs. I can't help but admire the definition of those abs. He's definitely older, early thirties perhaps, and has a jawline obscured by a thick beard. He moves quiet around the house. Deliberate movement. We chat briefly, very polite introductions and pleasant jokes. Tony says my room is cleaned and prepped for me. He mentions he invites companions over from time to time. In an appeasing tone, I say that'll be just fine. He grins and heads out.
And then I'm sunk into the mattress, my belongings scattered in a room I'll spend two years in. I pass out as the alien sounds of traffic and city reverberate in my ears.
